Police Report: June 13

BURGLARY

1Copper plumbing weighing 150 pounds and 190 brass fittings, valued at $780, were taken from a building under construction in the 1200 block of North 62nd Street between June 1 and 5.

2A truck, tools, boxes of spices and industrial fans, totaling $15,236, were taken from Penzey's Spices, 12001 W. Capitol Drive, between 5:15 p.m. June 3 and 2:10 a.m. June 4.

3Piles of clothing were taken off a basement laundry rack and items were thrown around and broken at a home in the 1100 block of Elm Lawn between 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. June 5. A window had been broken.

4A woman took nine sunglasses valued at $1,005 from Brighton Collectibles at Mayfair, 2500 N. Mayfair Road, at 3:24 p.m. June 8.

5A 51-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for attempted burglary after he was seen on security cameras at Currie Park Golf Course, 3535 N. Mayfair Road, at 12:10 a.m. June 9. A clubhouse window had been broken causing $300 damage but nothing appeared missing. When officers arrived he ran around the fairway until he gave up near the park entrance. Officers don't believe he acted alone. He was on probation violation and the Jeep he had arrived in was stolen.

6A GPS, charger and bicycle, valued at $535, were taken from an open garage between 10 p.m. June 9 and 6 a.m. June 10.

THEFT

7Two Milwaukee boys, ages 16 and 17, were arrested for retail theft after they took 21 cans of baby formula valued at $357 from Pick 'n Save, 6950 W. State St., at 9:06 p.m. June 3. The older teen had an open theft case so he was also arrested for bail-jumping. The younger boy had a warrant for violating his juvenile probation.

8Three men took a metal ladder valued at $250 from a yard in the 1800 block of North 69th Street at 11:49 a.m. June 4. The homeowner heard banging about 2 a.m. and saw the men putting the ladder on top of a truck.

9A cellphone valued at $700 was taken from a vehicle parked in the 2600 block of North Mayfair Road at 1:26 p.m. June 4.

10Two sunglasses valued at $440 were taken from Solstice at Mayfair at 6:39 p.m. June 4.

11A bicycle valued at $100 was taken from the yard at Eisenhower Elementary School, 11600 W. Center St., between 8:05 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 5.

12A wallet valued at $235 was taken from TMJ and Orofacial Treatment Center, 2626 Wauwatosa Ave., between 12:57 and 1:30 p.m. June 5. Credit cards were used to make $700 in fraudulent purchases at Midtown Shopping Center in Milwaukee.

13A bicycle valued at $150 was taken from outside Five Guys Burgers and Fries at Mayfair at 2:30 p.m. June 5.

14Credit cards were taken from a shopper's purse at Panera in Mayfair about 9 p.m. June 5. Fraudulent purchases totaling $708 were made at Target in Wauwatosa.

15A laptop computer valued at $680 was taken from an office at Western Southern Financial Group, 2100 N. Mayfair Road, at 7:49 a.m. June 6. A strange man carrying a bag was seen coming out of the office, but he said he was in the wrong building.

16A purse and cellphone, valued at $605, were taken from a vehicle at Hart Park, 7300 Chestnut St., between 9:30 and 10:35 a.m. June 7. A window had been broken.

17An 18-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for retail theft after she took clothing valued at $218 from Macy's at Mayfair at 4 p.m. June 7. She chose a jacket that was obviously too small for her and started stuffing items in the sleeves. She said the items were birthday presents for her sister.

18Five catalytic converters valued at $4,300 were cut from vehicles at Sid Harvey Industries, 4750 N. 124th St.; Flag Center, 2954 N.117th St.; and JJ Hoppmann Printing, 3000 N. 117th St., between 5 p.m. June 8 and 9 a.m. June 11.

19A 53-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for retail theft and habitual criminality after he hid bottles of lotion and air fresheners under his shirt at Walgreens, 2656 Wauwatosa Ave., at 11:59 a.m. June 9. He had a warrant for driving after his license had been revoked and a history of 12 prior retail theft arrests with the most recent conviction in March. A Milwaukee police officer who had happened to stop by the store for a soda when the theft kept him in the back of his squad car until Tosa cops arrived.

Wauwatosa Police Department responded to 15 thefts of items valued at less than $100.

DRUG POSSESSION

20A 17-year-old Wauwatosa boy was arrested for marijuana possession after he was seen riding his skateboard in the street in the 1200 block of Martha Washington Drive at 4:25 p.m. June 2. The boy was alerted that riding "play vehicles" in the street violates city laws. A search of his backpack turned up a glass pipe and 2.35 grams of marijuana.

21A 26-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for marijuana possession after his vehicle was pulled over for license plates that didn't register at 64th Street and North Avenue at 8:15 p.m. June 2. He had 2.6 grams of the drug in his sock. He said marijuana helped ease his Tourette's syndrome.

22Two boys, a 17-year-old from Waukesha and a 16-year-old from Wauwatosa, were arrested for tobacco violations even though they, along with a third teen, had 5.15 grams of marijuana among them at McKinley Elementary School playground, 2435 N. 89th St., at 10:37 p.m. June 4. Officers were patrolling the playground after receiving complaints of people being in the park after hours. They saw two men in the park and a third sitting in a car. Marijuana was in the car and one of the boys had some in his pocket. A glass pipe still warm from use was found under the slide where the 16-year-old had been lying when officers arrived. He also had cigarettes. They had no prior arrests and were cooperative with police. The third teen was reprimanded.

23A 22-year-old woman was arrested for possession of prescription pills after pharmacists at Pick 'n Save, 6950 W. State St., noticed 44 Hydrocodone pills missing from a bottle that was just filled. An inventory was taken and numerous pills valued at $257 had been taken between April 26 and May 29. A review of the security video showed an employee putting items in her purse. On June 7, a search of her purse turned up 36 various pills in an unlabeled bottle.

ACCIDENTS

24An 85-year-old man was taken to Froedtert Hospital after his vehicle darted into a traffic lane and was struck by another vehicle at 73rd and Center streets at 11 a.m. May 15. His vehicle was pushed onto a sidewalk, where it struck a sign post. The driver side door couldn't be opened from the damage. Hospital staff said he was in fair condition with a broken pelvis, five broken ribs and internal bleeding. The driver of the second vehicle, a 19-year-old woman, was taken to St. Joseph Hospital for facial injuries.

25A 47-year-old Jackson woman was taken to Froedtert Hospital with a head injury after her car was struck from behind at Watertown Plank Road and Swan Boulevard at 5:09 p.m. June 5. The driver of the striking vehicle was cited for inattentive driving.

26A 26-year-old Milwaukee woman was taken to Froedtert Hospital for a sore back and neck after her car collided into another vehicle in the 1800 block of North Mayfair Road at 9:15 a.m. June 6. She was cited for making an improper turn and having no auto insurance.

VANDALISM

27A 29-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for vandalism after he damaged property at Aurora Psychiatric Hospital, 1220 Dewey Ave., at 8:52 p.m. June 5. A patient in for alcohol detoxification, he unexpectedly got violent and repeatedly threw a fire extinguisher at a door until it discharged. When officers arrived, they found blood smeared on doors and a trail in the hallway and extinguisher expellant and shattered glass on the floor. When the extinguisher alone didn't break the door window, he also used his body and shattered the glass and pushed out the door frame causing $1,800 in damage. He was taken to Froedtert Hospital for bleeding arms and hands.

OTHER

28A 35-year-old West Allis man was arrested for drug paraphernalia possession after his vehicle was stopped for having no license plates at Mayfair Road and Mount Vernon Avenue at 5:31 p.m. June 3. He had a warrant for burglary with the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office. A search of his vehicle turned up a folding knife and paraphernalia for heroin use. He was staying with his brother, a 41-year-old West Allis man, at the Days Inn, 11811 W. Bluemound Road. The next day the brother was arrested for disorderly conduct for smoking in the hotel room. He had two warrants for drunken driving with Milwaukee County.

29A 19-year-old Wauwatosa man and an 18-year-old Milwaukee woman were arrested for underage drinking after they called 911 and hung up at 1:22 a.m. June 2. Police responded to a home in the 6500 block of West Wisconsin Avenue, where they saw a blood trail and a broken vehicle window. They heard arguing in the house, saw people and repeatedly knocked. After no answer they forced open the door and found a man with scratches and blood on his face and a bleeding hand and a woman with blood on her face, neck and clothes lying on a bed. They said they had been drinking on Milwaukee east side and they argued on the way home. He supposedly slammed the car door breaking the glass. However, he made comments eluding to being in a fight earlier in the evening. He had a BAC of 0.13 and hers was 0.11.

30A 50-year-old Wauwatosa man was arrested for disorderly conduct after he used profane and racist language and shoved a boy near Whitman Middle School, 11100 W. Center St., at 3:45 p.m. June 4. Three boys had been fooling around and one ran a few feet into the roadway. A driver approached and used profanities, then exited his vehicle and asked one of the boys if he was "man enough" before shoving him and causing him to trip over the curb and fall. As he got back into his car a woman in the car behind him said he couldn't put his hands on a child. He again got out of his car, used a racial slur and pounded on her window. He then picked up his son and left.

31A 25-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for defrauding an innkeeper after she refused to pay a late checkout fee and took room keys with her from Forty Winks Inn, 11017 W. Bluemound Road, at 1:15 p.m. June 6.

Wauwatosa Police Department responded to one domestic violence incident in the past week.
