Police Report: June 26

BURGLARY

1A bicycle valued at $370 was taken from an unlocked garage in the 8000 block of Gridley Avenue between 11 a.m. and 12:40 p.m. June 17.

2Tools, lawn chairs and paper products, valued at $275, were taken from two of more than 20 storage units that had padlocks cut off at Normandy Village, 2528 N. 124th St., before 8:45 a.m. June 18. Locks were found in a garbage can.

3A 47-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for burglary after a laptop computer valued at $1,200 was taken from Kepa Services, 2300 N. Mayfair Road, between 7 p.m. June 18 and 8 a.m. June 19. A computer in Capitol Title & Closing Services, within the same office building, had been damage. Water had been poured in the hard drive. The woman worked for a cleaning company hired to service the building, so she had keys to the offices. There had been other items taken from the building in recent weeks.

4Three boys were seen removing a bicycle from a garage in the 4400 block of North 108th Street at 5:30 p.m. June 18. The neighbor told them to drop the bike, which they did. Her husband chased them two blocks but failed to catch up to them.

5A bicycle valued at $150 was taken from an open garage in the 4700 block of North 106th Street between 8 a.m. June 19 and 5:30 p.m. June 20.

6A wallet valued at $110 was taken from a home in the 2200 block of North 63rd Street while the owner was working in her backyard at 3:15 p.m. June 19. A line of coins was seen from the purse to the front door.

7Two boys, one on a bike and one on foot, traveled up a driveway in the 2300 block of North 71st Street at 8:04 p.m. June 20. They got a bike out of the backyard. When a neighbor yelled at them they abandoned both bicycles and ran off.

8Two bicycles, valued at $500, were taken from an open garage in the 11000 block of West Hope Avenue between 7:30 and 9 a.m. June 21.

9A bicycle valued at $494 was taken from an open garage in the 4600 block of North 101st Street between noon and 4:45 p.m. June 21.

10Three bicycles valued at $590 were taken from an unlocked garage in the 4400 block of North 100th Street between 9 p.m. June 21 and 7:30 a.m. June 22.

11Two bicycles valued at $1,200 were taken from an open garage in the 9600 block of West Hope Street between 2 and 4:15 p.m. June 25.

12Two bicycles valued at $200 were taken from an open garage in the 9500 block of West Ruby Avenue before 3:30 p.m. June 25.

13A bicycle valued at $300 was taken from an unlocked garage in the 3000 block of North 121st Street between 6 p.m. June 25 and 7 a.m. June 26.

THEFT

14An air conditioner valued at $100 was taken from a residence in the 2600 block of North 67th Street between Oct. 1 and June 16.

15Jewelry valued at nearly $17,000 was taken from a home in the 1300 block of North 71st Street between Nov. 27 and June 12.

16A cellphone, laptop computer and jewelry, valued at $6,500, were taken from a home in the 1200 block of North 120th Street between 11 a.m. June 14 and 10:30 a.m. June 15.

17A bicycle valued at $600 was taken from the children's play area in Hart Park near 70th Street during HartFest between 9:50 and 10:40 p.m. June 16. It had been locked to a fence.

18An air conditioning unit valued at $4,000 was taken from the backyard of Renaissance Construction, 11727 W. Dearbourn Ave., before 10:35 a.m. June 18.

19A cellphone valued at $200 was taken from the Zagg Invisible Shield kiosk at Mayfair, 2500 N. Mayfair Road, about 2:45 p.m. June 18.

20A boy took a bicycle valued at $300 from Wauwatosa West High School, 11400 W. Center St., between 10 a.m. and noon June 19. He was recognized on security cameras and given two hours to return the bicycle to its owner. He made the return, so he received a warning.

21A jacket and briefcase, valued at $140, were found in an empty garbage cart in the 8600 block of Ravenswood Circle at 7:04 p.m. June 19. The owner's work van had been broken into the prior day at 92nd Street and Wisconsin Avenue but he hadn't yet reported the theft. His laptop computer was also missing.

22A stolen credit card was used to make fraudulent purchases totaling $1,294 at Walmart Neighborhood Market, 3850 N. 124th St., at 4 p.m. June 20.

23A cellphone valued at $250 was taken from the sidelines of the basketball court at the, 2420 N. 124th St., between 5:30 and 9 p.m. June 20.

24An unlocked bicycle valued at $200 was taken from Wauwatosa East High School, 7500 Milwaukee Ave., between 9:45 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. June 21.

25A member's wallet valued at $520 was taken from the West Suburban YMCA between 10:40 and 11:10 a.m. June 21.

26An unlocked bicycle valued at $150 was taken from the parking lot at Calvary Memorial Church, 4515 N. Mayfair Road, between 12:40 and 1 p.m. June 21. A second bicycle was taken but located along the Webster Park bike path.

27Two 17-year-old Milwaukee boys were arrested for retail theft after they took sunglasses valued at $525 from Solstice and Sun Glass Hut in Mayfair at 8:30 p.m. June 21.

28A 48-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for retail theft and violating probation after he tried to make a fraudulent return at Target, 3900 N. 124th St., at 1:15 p.m. June 22. He pulled a plastic bag from his pants and filled it with baby bottles and breast pump bags. Then he returned the items for a refund that was placed on a gift card.

29A man took two cartons of cigarettes valued at $134 from Walgreens, 2275 N. Mayfair Road, and ran out the door at 2:28 a.m. June 23. He was seen behind the counter with four cartons, but an employee was able to slap two cartons to the floor. The thief pushed the employee and fled.

30A man put sunglasses valued at $275 in his pocket and walked out of Solstice at 11:38 a.m. June 23.

31A laptop computer was taken from a vehicle at the Days Inn, 11811 W. Bluemound Road, between 5:30 p.m. June 23 and 7:30 p.m. June 24. The owner didn't realize it was missing until police called to say it had been turned in.

32A handgun valued at $400 was taken from an unlocked vehicle in the 2400 block of North 71st Street between 10 p.m. June 23 and 11 a.m. June 25.

33A purse valued at $100 was taken from a vehicle at Super 8 Motel, 115 N. Mayfair Road, between 2 and 4:50 p.m. June 24.

34Makeup valued at $100 was taken from an unlocked vehicle in the 400 block of North 113th Street between 2 and 7:45 a.m. June 24.

35A man ran out of Radio Shack, 6407 W. North Ave., with a printer, valued at $110, at 3:30 p.m. June 24.

36A purse and sweat shirt, valued at $240, were taken from a vehicle at Mo's Irish Pub, 10842 W. Bluemound Road, between 11:20 p.m. June 24 and 1 a.m. June 25. A stolen credit card was used at four gas stations.

37A laptop computer valued at $1,500 was taken from an unlocked vehicle in the 1500 block of North 123rd Street between 2:30 and 6 a.m. June 25.

38A 40-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for two counts of retail theft after she took two jars of hair cream valued at $114 from Target at 2:31 p.m. June 25. She paid for toilet paper and stuffed the jars down her pants. She was recognized as the person who took similar products June 21.

Wauwatosa Police Department responded to 10 thefts of items valued at less than $100 in the past week.

ASSAULT

39A 42-year-old Wauwatosa man was arrested for substantial battery with a dangerous weapon after he used a wooden cane to strike an employee in the leg and head in the parking lot of Tosa Liquor, 6607 W. North Ave., at 9:10 p.m. June 22. The man wanted to enter the store at closing time and words were exchanged. The employee's head was bleeding so he was taken to Froedtert Hospital, where he received eight stitches.

40A 57-year-old Texas man was arrested for battery after he pushed a woman and struck her in the head causing a lump at Super 8 Motel at 7:26 a.m. June 26. The couple was traveling together and a verbal argument got physical.

DRUG POSSESSION

41A 24-year-old West Allis man was arrested for marijuana possession with intent to deliver and violating probation after the vehicle he was riding in was pulled over for an expired registration in the 2400 block of North Mayfair Road at 4:03 p.m. June 18. His record showed he was on probation for multiple drug arrests and remnants of marijuana could be seen on the floorboards. A search turned up 19 small bags of marijuana that totaled 12.15 grams of the drug. The driver, a 19-year-old West Allis woman, was arrested for displaying fraudulent license plates. She said a friend gave them to her because she didn't have any for her new car.

42A 15-year-old boy received a warning after he brought a bag of marijuana into Carmelite Home for Boys, 1214 Kavanaugh Place, following an off-site visit with family at 9:51 p.m. June 23.

DRUNKEN DRIVING

43A 40-year-old Wauwatosa woman was arrested for drunken driving after she was seen driving recklessly in the 11700 block of West North Avenue at 6:20 p.m. June 20. She was having trouble following directions, so blood was drawn rather than submitting to a breath test.

ACCIDENT

44A 7-year-old boy was taken to Children's Hospital of Wisconsin with a bloody nose after he darted in front of a vehicle and was knocked off his bicycle at Saint Charles Street and Milwaukee Avenue at 1:08 p.m. June 20.

VANDALISM

45A 32-year-old man was arrested for vandalism after he spread honey across a desk, damaged a computer mousepad and threw a Bible and religious brochures on a desk at Hall Automotive, 11011 W. North Ave., at 12:51 p.m. June 20. A nail was driven through the literature, mousepad and Bible to bind them together. The jar of honey was on the desk but he opened it and poured it. He was carrying a backpack full of chicken bones. It was not known why he was at the dealership. He was on parole for burglary.

46A door was damaged at Wisconsin Garden & Pet Supply, 8520 W. North Ave., between 7:15 p.m. June 22 and 8:20 a.m. June 23. Damage was estimated at $1,000.

47A vehicle window was broken at Radisson Hotel, 2303 N. Mayfair Road, between 12:45 and 11:50 a.m. June 23. Damage was estimated at $200.

48Two men were seen on security video kicking in a glass door to Showroom Auto Detailing, 11050 W. Bluemound Road, at 2:25 a.m. June 23. Damage was estimated at $500.

49Two windows were broken on a vehicle in the 10900 block of West Bluemound Road, between 2:40 a.m. and 1:10 p.m. June 23. Damage was estimated at $500.

50A window screen was broken and there was an attempt to open a window at The Dentists, 10863 W. Bluemound Road, between 2 p.m. June 23 and 6 a.m. June 25.

51A vehicle window was broken at Best Buy, 2421 N. Mayfair Road, at 6:46 p.m. June 23.

OTHER

52Bottles full of urine, a stolen cellphone, pocket knife and dirty winter coat were found in an unlocked garage in the 8900 block of Stickney Avenue at 7 a.m. June 17. The owner believed a person had been sleeping in the garage.

53Two Milwaukee boys, ages 15 and 17, were arrested for disorderly conduct after they lunged at an elderly man and chased him from the bus stop at 60th Street and North Avenue at 7:22 p.m. June 18. One of the boys fled from police, but he was caught after he entered the Taco Bell at 56th Street and North Avenue and jumped the service counter.

54A man dropped off a fraudulent prescription for oxycodone at CVS pharmacy, 7520 W. Bluemound Road, at 8:03 p.m. June 18. The supposed prescribing dentist said the man wasn't his patient. He never returned to pick up the medication.

55A counterfeit $20 bill was found in a deposit at Wells Fargo Bank, 2675 N. Mayfair Road, at 12:09 p.m. June 21.

56A 19-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for disorderly conduct after she punched her aunt, who was driving them in a vehicle in the 2200 block of Wauwatosa Avenue at 4:50 p.m. June 22. They got out of the vehicle, which was parked in the middle of the road, and started fighting until a man came by and broke them up. The aunt had a bloody lip.

Wauwatosa Police Department responded to five domestic violence incidents in the past week.
