Police Report: Dec. 18

ROBBERY

1A man had his phone taken from him while waiting for a bus at North 62 Street and West North Avenue at 12:45 p.m. Dec. 12. The robber walked up to him, asked him if he or his friends needed any marijuana. They said no, but the stranger then asked to see the man's phone to add his number and when he was given the phone, he said "you don't need it!" and ran off. The phone was worth $250.

2Two young men robbed a Speedway gas station, 6804 W. North Ave., at gunpoint at 5:38 p.m. Dec. 16. They took cigarettes, $153 in cash and the Children's Miracle Network donation jar. They were able to get away and no one was injured.

BURGLARY

3Multiple cellphone accessories were taken from a storage basement at Verizon Wireless, 2500 N. Mayfair Road. Police believe the suspect climbed a ladder to get to a ceiling above the storage room and removed ceiling tile to get in.

4Cash and two televisions worth $1,480 were taken from a home in the 10000 block of West Keefe Avenue between 2 and 4 p.m. Dec. 11. The victims believe the burglar is a former tenant who used a door code to get in.

5A concession stand was broken into at Wisconsin Lutheran College, 8725 W. Wisconsin Ave. between 3:50 a.m. and 4:20 p.m. Dec. 13. Although a cash register was damaged, nothing appeared to be taken except for one bottle of soda. Damage to the building is valued at $2,500.

6Burglars removed a window to break into a home in the 6200 block of West North Avenue between 12:30 and 1:58 p.m. Dec. 14. Nothing was taken and the only damage was to latches on the window, valued at $10.

7A home was broken into and several items stolen from it in the 7300 block of Portland Avenue between 4:45 and 6:15 p.m. Dec. 15. Police responded after a neighbor saw the window open and were able to recover a television in some bushes. An iPad and laptop computer worth $1,450 were taken.

8A home in the 6600 block of Revere Avenue was broken into via the basement window and several iPods and laptop computers were taken from it between 1:20 and 2:24 p.m. Dec. 16. Total loss is $1,410.

THEFT

9A thief stole $101 worth of food by abusing the self checkout at Pick 'n Save, 6950 W. State St., at 12:52 p.m. Dec. 3. The woman punched in the wrong codes, getting expensive deli items at the price of cheaper produce. She used this tactic four times before getting caught but escaping after an argument during the fifth attempt.

10An iPod was taken from a girl's backpack while she was at Wauwatosa East High School, 7500 Milwaukee Ave., between 12:41 p.m. and 4 p.m. Dec. 7. Total loss is $115.

11A Toyota Corolla worth $7,500 was stolen while its owner went to Number One Chinese Restaurant, 6119 W. North Ave. between 2:30 and 3 p.m. Dec. 8. The car was found in Milwaukee on Dec. 12 undamaged.

12 A 26-year-old Chicago woman and a 25-year-old Brookfield man were arrested for taking $182 worth of clothes from Macy's at Mayfair, 2500 N. Mayfair Road, at 3:08 p.m. Dec. 10.

13A 38-year-old Wind Lake woman was arrested for taking $559 of crystalware from Boston Store, 2400 N. Mayfair Road, at 4:56 p.m. Dec. 10. She tried multiple times to steal the items and bit security guards when they tried to stop her. She swore on the way out and kicked over a mannequin on her way out, breaking off its head. The mannequin cost $2,000.

14A GPS and two packs of cigarettes were taken from a car in the 2300 block of Lefebar Avenue between 6:30 p.m. Dec. 10 and 6:30 a.m. Dec. 11. Total loss is estimated at $164.

15A vehicle's window was smashed and a fly fishing rod was taken out of it at Radisson, 2303 N. Mayfair Road, at 10:49 p.m. Dec. 10. Total loss is $550.

16Two Milwaukee boys, ages 15 and 13, were arrested for taking two pairs of jeans worth $142 from Boston Store, 2400 N. Mayfair Road at 7:39 p.m. Dec. 11.

17Two catalytic converters worth $8,600 were taken from trucks at FSA Network, 4320 N. 124th St., at 10:51 p.m. Dec. 11. The thieves drove a dark silver SUV police believe was the same one used in two prior thefts. The thieves attempted taking a third converter, but it was welded on.

18A catalytic converter worth $4,300 was taken from Elite Energy Distribution, 4700 N. 124th St., between 10:21 and 11:59 p.m. Dec. 11. A dark silver SUV was seen in video surveillance. Police believe this is the same SUV tied to prior thefts.

19A laptop computer and other electronics were taken from a car in the 2400 block of North 63rd Street between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. Dec. 12. Total loss is $600.

20A man stole four bottles of liquor worth $96 from CVS Pharmacy, 7520 W. Bluemound Road, at 1:38 p.m. Dec. 12. Employees believe the man has stolen from CVS over 10 times.

21A car's window was shattered and a check worth $4,175 and $15 in change were taken from it in the 2400 block of North 63rd Street between 12:30 and 7:45 a.m. Dec. 13.

22A 17-year-old Milwaukee girl was arrested for taking a $35 fragrance set from Boston Store, 2400 N. Mayfair Road, at 6:34 p.m. Dec. 13. She had $105 of stolen clothing on her from Crazy 8 and Hollister.

23A car's window was shattered and a purse stolen from it at Cardinal Fitness, 2885 N. Mayfair Road, between 7 and 8:10 p.m. Dec. 13. The purse had a driver's license, credit cards and cash in it. Loss is valued at $1,270.

24A 25-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for taking $177 of socks from Macy's at Mayfair, 2500 N. Mayfair Road, at 1:35 p.m. Dec. 14.

25A man drew a knife on employees trying to stop a woman from taking a $30 bottle of alcohol from Walgreens, 10800 W. Capitol Drive, at 4:05 p.m. Dec. 14. No one was hurt and the suspects escaped.

26A woman had $1,740 stolen from her while she left her door open at Holiday Inn Extended Stay, 11121 W. North Ave. at 6:25 p.m. Dec. 14. She went to the lobby to help a friend and forgot to put the bolt in the door. Among the items stolen are a laptop computer, a tablet computer and credit cards.

27An unattended cellphone worth $280 was taken while its owner was shopping at Macy's, 2500 N. Mayfair Road, at 6:58 p.m. Dec. 14.

28A woman had a cellphone worth $800 taken from her by a man she had a one-night stand with at Days Inn Hotel, 11811 W. Bluemound Road, at 9:30 p.m. Dec. 14.

29A 31-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for trying to dine and dash from Applebees, 2500 n. Mayfair Road, at 6:16 p.m. Dec. 15.

30A man pulled a knife on an employee of Walgreens, 6600 W. State St., when she tried to stop him from taking a cellphone worth $50 at 8:07 p.m. Dec. 15. The man put the cellphone back and did not hurt anyone.

31A 44-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for taking six bottles of alcohol worth $114 from Sendik's, 8616 W. North Ave., at 8:05 a.m. Dec. 16. The man ran from the store and was found in a driveway shortly after.

Police responded to thefts of six items valued at less than $100 this week.

DRUG POSSESSION

32A 37-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for drug possession after an employee of called the police about a suspected drug deal in the parking lot of Puhl's True Value Hardware, 1525 N. 68th St. at 3:35 p.m. Dec. 12. Police found multiple prescription pills that the 37-year-old had in a cigarette pack, two iPhones and a Garmin Nuvifone. The suspect denied selling drugs and said that they were from his knee surgery in 2008. The other man had powder in his truck, but it was undetermined if it was from a drug.

DRUNKEN DRIVING

33A 33-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for drunken driving, first offense, at the intersection of North 81st Street and Rogers Avenue at 2:23 a.m. Dec. 10. Officers found the man slumped over, passed out in his car. He woke up to their flashlights and interrupted them, saying, "Yes, I'm drunk. I didn't want to drive anymore." His blood alcohol content was 0.24.

34A 25-year-old New Berlin woman was arrested for drunken driving, second offense, in the 10500 block of West North Avenue at 2:55 a.m. Dec. 11. The vehicle slowly drove through a red stoplight. While going through field sobriety tests, she said "can you just arrest me?" Her BAC was 0.20.

35A 47-year-old Wauwatosa man was arrested for drunken driving, first offense, after he got into an accident at the intersection of 68th Street and Meinecke Avenue at 2:54 a.m. Dec. 15. The man had fallen asleep at the wheel; his BAC was 0.13.

36A 23-year-old Wauwatosa woman was arrested for drunken driving, first offense, after she nearly hit a car on Interstate 94 at 1:31 a.m. Dec. 16. She was followed to her parents' driveway and arrested at the intersection of Michigan and 106th streets. Her BAC was 0.18.

37A 22-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for drunken driving, first offense, at the intersection of 76th Street and Bluemound Road at 2:59 a.m. Dec. 16. He had a burned out headlight and refused to take a breath test.

ACCIDENTS

38A 32-year-old woman was taken to Froedtert Hospital after a 23-year-old woman rear-ended the car she was riding in at the intersection of North Avenue and Menomonee River Parkway at 1:59 Dec. 9.

39A 20-year-old woman hit a pedestrian with her car in the 1100 block of North Mayfair Road on Dec. 11. The pedestrian, a 52-year-old man, was taken to Froedtert Hospital for a bruised knee.

OTHER

40A man claims he was scammed out of $650 by a false advertising company when his business, Action Law Office, 933 N. Mayfair Road, tried to purchase advertising for football calendars on Sept. 28. The alleged scammer used a contact at Wauwatosa East without her permission and never made the banners for the victim.

41A man passed a $4526 bad check to Kitchen Saver, 6531 W. North Ave., at 9:07 a.m. Dec. 2. The man was paying for cabinet and countertop work and didn't answer his phone after his check was declined.

42A 27-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for forging checks at Associated Bank, 2645 N. Mayfair Road, at 10:20 a.m. Dec. 10. Banks were on alert for a certain type of check through Florida that he was using, which hit four banks before. The man said he was conned into trying to cash the $1,000 check from a man named Terrance who was not his friend or family member.

43A 21-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for disorderly conduct after people were concerned that he would jump from an apartment stairwell in the 1100 block of North Mayfair Road at 3:42 p.m. Dec. 11. He resisted arrest in the parking lot and was shocked by police.

44A stolen 1996 Ford Ranger was found in the 4200 block of North 94th Street at 4:16 p.m. Dec. 13.

45A woman called police in reference to a prowler in her yard in the 2300 block of North 62nd Street at 1:35 p.m. Dec. 14. She heard a back door open, investigated and saw a stranger in her house. He asked if she needed yard work done, to which she said no and he left.

46A woman's credit cards were stolen from her purse in Brookfield and used in an attempted $1,256 purchase at Target, 3900 N. 124th St. at 1:53 p.m. Dec. 14. She canceled the cards and the money was refunded.

47A man was found in possession of two counterfeit $20 bills while at Walgreens, 6950 W. State St., at 7:21 p.m. Dec. 14. The man got the money from his tenant, who used the money for rent.

Police made one arrest for a domestic disturbance call this week.
