Cudahy, Tosa latest to consider blocking mandates
Two more Milwaukee suburbs – Cudahy and Wauwatosa - will consider measures aimed at blocking ordinances like the paid-sick-days mandate that was approved for Milwaukee.
Both common councils are expected to vote on their ordinances Tuesday.
The suburbs that have taken up such ordinances have been unanimous in adopting them. The ordinances prohibit their cities from forcing private businesses to provide certain pay or benefits to employees.
The Milwaukee ordinance, approved in a November voter referendum, requires private businesses to give employees paid sick days. It was to take effect this month but has been blocked by a lawsuit that is pending in court.
