The cause of the death Sunday of 15-year-old Madison Kiefer of Whitefish Bay has not yet been determined. But one of her friends told police that on the night before she died, Kiefer smoked marijuana and may have taken Suboxone, a drug prescribed for addicts of heroin and other opiates.

Suboxone can cause respiratory, cardiovascular or liver failure if mixed with other drugs, according to a Medical College of Wisconsin professor.
