Worker injured in hit-and-run

A 20-year-old Michigan man was taken to Froedtert Hospital after he was struck by a hit-and-run driver while he was doing survey work at 60th Street and Wisconsin Avenue on Thursday. He was conscious when paramedics arrived, but he complained of leg and hand pain. He was treated for a torn patella, injured finger and swelling and lacerations around his left eye.

The man, who had been wearing a bright yellow safety vest, was trying to get a Global Positioning System signal when he was struck, according to Wauwatosa police. A co-worker who sitting in their work vehicle said he heard the sound of heavy braking, so he looked out the window and saw the victim on top of the vehicle hood. When he fell off and onto the street, the driver took off.

The co-worker described the vehicle as a red or maroon Ford Taurus.
