Meeting to provide details on 70th Street bridge project

Sept. 14, 2009

City officials will hold a public information session next month on the proposed 70th Street Bridge replacement project expected to begin next year.

Plans calls for replacing the bridge over the Menomonee River, reconstructing the roadway at bridge approaches and constructing a path along the river's north side.

Funding from the project will come from economic stimulus dollars.

Wauwatosa residents can talk with city officials and design consultants, view maps and provide opinions on the project. The session will be held open house-style from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 5 in the Hart Park Muellner Building, 7300 Chestnut St.

The project is scheduled to begin next summer and it is expected to take about four months to complete. During that time the bridge will be closed.
