The Wauwatosa Health Department has received dosages of the H1N1 vaccine, and it will begin giving shots at a clinic Friday afternoon.
City health officials know by the call volume to the department that there is a large demand for the H1N1, commonly known as swine flu, vaccine, but they ask that only the people in the at-risk groups attend the clinic from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. on the lower level of City Hall, 7725 W. North Ave.
The at-risk groups are pregnant women, health care workers, people ages 6 months to 24 years old, those who care for babies younger than 6 months, and those aged 25 to 64 years old who are at risk for developing complications from the flu.
"The targeted groups do not include seniors at this time," Wauwatosa Health Officer Nancy Kreuser said.
Healthy individuals ages 2 to 49 are encouraged to get the live flu mist due to the limited supply of the inactive, injectable vaccine.
The latest flu clinic information is available by calling (414) 479-8938 or visiting wauwatosa.net.
