Snow emergency declared in Tosa

Jan. 7, 2010

A snow emergency has been declared in Wauwatosa to begin at 10:30 p.m., when public works crews will start snowplowing the city streets, said Operations Superintendent Mike Kreiter.

The city hasn't specified when the snow emergency will end since the storm is expected to continue into the morning hours. Depending on accumulation, more road cleanup work may be necessary.

So far, the snow has been light and powdery, but slick. However, city emergency personnel have seen few problems on the roads leading up to the afternoon rush hour.

"Given the amount of snow, the roads are more than passable," police Lt. Dominic Leone said.

Earlier in the day, the Fire Department responded to one-car accident with minor injuries. That driver was take to a local hospital for evaluation, Deputy Fire Chief James Case said.
