Aldermanic candidates aren't raising big bucks

None of the aldermanic candidates in Tuesday's primary election has raised more than $1,000 during the campaign.
As a result, the seven candidates - four in the 2nd District and three in the 8th District - have requested exemptions from filing campaign finance reports, city Deputy Clerk Susan Van Hoven said.
Election laws state a candidate is eligible for exemption if less than $1,000 in contributions are accepted or distributions made from a campaign in a calendar year. Also, financial contributions from a single source, other than from the candidate's own pocket, can not amount to more than $100.
Residents of the 2nd and 8th districts can vote during the primary election from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
