Police Report: March 9

BURGLARY

1A mountain bike valued at $350 was taken from a garage in the 2100 block of North 63rd Street between 3 p.m. March 3 and 5 p.m. March 6.

THEFT

2A cell phone and three rings were taken from the vestibule outside Touching Humanity massage studio, 7430 Harwood Ave., between 11:22 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. Feb. 23. Loss is estimated at $650.

• Thirteen charges totaling $1,100 were made at Illinois gas stations using a Wauwatosa resident's credit card between Feb. 24 and March 3.

3A man attempted to steal headphones, valued at $180, from Best Buy, 2421 N. Mayfair Road, at 10:45 a.m. Feb. 25. He was seen crouched in an aisle using a knife to open packaging. He saw the worker watching him, so he put the item back on the shelf and left the store.

4A 31-year-old woman was arrested for retail theft and trespassing after she took five purses, valued collectively at $341, from Macy's at Mayfair Mall, 2500 N. Mayfair Road, at 11:13 a.m. March 1. She was seen putting the purses into a bag, and when the security guard confronted her she responded by yelling threats. Officers learned she had been banned from the mall in February for stealing purses from Boston Store. At the time she gave a different name, but they had a photo of her on file. There were IDs with different names but the same birthdates and photos in her purse. She previously had been convicted for retail thefts in Wauwatosa, Greendale and Franklin, so she was sent to Milwaukee County Jail.

5A purse, jacket, several bottles of pills and a case of CDs were taken from an unlocked vehicle at Mayfair Mall between 4:30 and 5:10 p.m. March 2. Loss is estimated at $2,500.

6A 25-year-old Hartford man was arrested for retail theft for taking $131 in merchandise from Macy's at 6:26 p.m. March 2. He put on underwear he hadn't paid for and stuffed T-shirts down his pants.

7A 2001 Chevrolet Silverado with 20-inch chrome rims was taken from a parking lot in the 12200 block of West North Avenue between 9 p.m. March 2 and 6:45 a.m. March 3. Loss is estimated at $7,000.

8A 14-year-old Wauwatosa girl was cited for driving without a valid license after she took her grandmother's car from the 500 block of North 106th Street between 10:30 p.m. March 2 and 2:30 a.m. March 3. When police came to the family's home, the girl denied she was involved in the theft. Eventually, the girl admitted she had waited until her grandmother left to play bingo and then taken the car to pick up friends in West Allis. They drove to the 12300 block of Ripley Avenue where they smoked marijuana and listened to the radio until the car battery died. The car was recovered and the grandmother declined to press charges.

9A 15-year-old Wauwatosa girl was arrested for theft for taking another student's cell phone, valued at $200, from the girls locker room at Wauwatosa West High School, 11400 W. Center St., between 1:20 and 2:11 p.m. March 3. She had two prior theft arrests.

10A 21-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for identity theft March 4 after she used a Wauwatosa woman's credit card to buy $273 sunglasses via the Internet. The cardholder shopped at Champs Sports in Mayfair Mall, where the Milwaukee woman worked in January. The credit card swiper had not been working so the Milwaukee woman had taken an imprint of the card. She also memorized the number. The cardholder noticed the charge on her last statement, and remembered the odd transaction. The district attorney is reviewing the case.

11A 30-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for theft for taking sections of a shed that was under construction and other metal pieces from Peebles Car Wash, 4770 N. 124th St., between 10:50 and 11:50 a.m. March 4. The items are valued at $1,200. Neighbors saw the man pull a truck onto the back of the property twice and load up the metal, which he later sold to a recycler. He said he thought the pieces were scrap, which officers disputed because the items were hidden away and not easily accessed. He was with a 19-year-old Milwaukee man who was on probation for vehicle theft and was taken to Milwaukee County Jail.

12A digital media player was taken from a backpack in the Wauwatosa East High School gym, 7500 Milwaukee Ave., between 7 and 8 a.m. March 5. Loss is estimated at $275.

13A 22-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for retail theft after he hid merchandise in his pants at Macy's at 8 p.m. March 5. The Brown Deer Police Department had a warrant for him.

14A group of eight people left Dave & Buster's, 2201 N. Mayfair Road, without paying their $111 food bill at 12:08 a.m. March 7. Servers grew suspicious when members of the party started leaving one by one.

15A wallet, valued at $150, was taken from a purse at Walter's, 6930 W. North Ave., between 12:45 and 1:30 a.m. March 7. Her debit card was used to make a $70 purchase at a gas station before she could cancel the card.

• Wauwatosa police responded to eight thefts of items valued at less than $100 in the past week.

ASSAULT

16A 27-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for child abuse with a dangerous weapon after she was seen hitting her 4-year-old daughter with a belt inside a vehicle parked in the 2200 block of North 69th Street at 3:06 p.m. March 4. As an officer approached her vehicle, the woman was putting her belt back on. She said she had hit her daughter because the child had thrown a book into the front seat. Police called Child Protective Services, which said they would contact the mother in a few days.

DRUG POSSESSION

17A 20-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for possessing four grams of marijuana in the 10000 block of West North Avenue at 7:35 p.m. Feb. 24. He was on probation for cocaine possession, so he also was arrested for bail jumping since drug possession violated his probation. The driver, an 18-year-old Milwaukee woman, said she recently bought the car and hadn't gotten it registered yet. However, a check of her record showed that her driver's license was suspended and the Fox Point Police Department had a warrant for her. She also was cited because the five people in the vehicle were not wearing seatbelts.

18A 21-year-old Wauwatosa man was arrested for possessing marijuana with the intent to deliver and possessing drug paraphernalia in the Buffalo Wild Wings parking lot, 2635 N. Mayfair Road, at 8:13 p.m. Feb. 27. Two people were in the vehicle smoking, and there was an odor of marijuana. He said he started smoking pot while in high school and had gotten into dealing it in the last few weeks. He had nearly 25 grams of the drug in the vehicle, as well as a pipe, cigarette roller and grinder.

19A 21-year-old man was arrested for marijuana possession and driving with a suspended license in the 6800 block of West Center Street at 12:19 a.m. March 1. He had 1.5 grams of the drug in his vehicle.

20A 20-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for marijuana possession after his vehicle was pulled at the BP gas station, 7532 W. Center St., at 12:14 a.m. March 2 for having unregistered license plates. He had 8.2 grams of the drug. The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office had a warrant for his passenger, a 25-year-old Milwaukee man.

21An 18-year-old Milwaukee student at Wauwatosa East High School was arrested for marijuana possession at 10:10 a.m. March 5 after he arrived at school late and acted strangely. He had marijuana in his pants pocket and had carved a hole in an apple to serve as a makeshift pipe. The case was referred to the district attorney.

DRUNKEN DRIVING

22A 31-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for drunken driving and driving after his license had been suspended after his car was seen swerving in the 2100 block of North Mayfair Road at 2:50 a.m. March 4. His blood-alcohol content was 0.11.

23A 20-year-old Wauwatosa man was arrested for drunken driving, vandalism and disorderly conduct after he showed up intoxicated at his ex-girlfriend's house in the 11300 block of West Center Street at 1:25 a.m. March 7. He was looking to fight her new boyfriend, but when no one would come out of the house he urinated on the street and punched and jumped on top of the boyfriend's car, denting the hood. His BAC was 0.11.

24A 60-year-old Greenfield man was arrested for drunken driving after he was seen slumped over the wheel of his running car, which was stopped at 76th Street and Wisconsin Avenue, at 6:39 p.m. March 7. He remained passed out during four intersection signal cycles. His BAC was 0.24.

25A 31-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for his second drunken driving offense after his vehicle was seen speeding in the 7400 block of West Center Street at 1:05 a.m. March 8. His BAC was 0.18. His vehicle registration was expired.

ACCIDENT

26An 81-year-old woman was taken to Froedtert Hospital for treatment of hip and head pain after she was knocked over by a vehicle at Target, 3900 N. 124th St., at 9:15 a.m. Feb. 26. The 82-year-old male driver of the striking vehicle was looking for a place to park and thought the woman had walked completely past his vehicle before he turned into the space. No citations were issued.

VANDALISM

27A portion of a vehicle's body had been kicked in while it was parked in the 7900 block of Harwood Avenue between 4 and 8 p.m. March 1.

OTHER

28A 55-year-old Wauwatosa woman was arrested for possessing drug paraphernalia after police executed a search warrant at her home in the 2300 block of North 114th Street at 5:30 a.m. Feb. 19. A glass cocaine pipe, cigarillo wrappers, prescription drugs in containers with the labels rubbed off and 40 bags of the type often used to hold drugs were seized.

29An 18-year-old student at Wauwatosa Alternative School, 2250 N. 122nd St., was arrested for drug paraphernalia possession at 10:55 a.m. Feb. 24. He had been seen smoking on school grounds earlier that morning. When confronted, he turned over two glass bowls with burned marijuana residue on them.

30A 20-year-old New Berlin woman was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs after police received several calls about her erratic driving in the 500 block of North 64th Street at 7:31 p.m. Feb. 26. One witness said the woman had been driving under 10 mph and still nearly struck several snowbanks. When officers found her vehicle, she was stopped and eating pizza behind the wheel. She told officers she had taken several prescribed drugs including medication to treat attention deficit disorder, opiate addiction, insomnia and panic disorders. Her blood was sent to the state crime lab for analysis.

31A 53-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for disorderly conduct after he tried to fight a man for parking too close to his vehicle at Swan Boulevard and North Avenue at 6:27 p.m. March 2. He honked his horn, so the other driver walked over to his vehicle to see if there was a problem. The man got out of his car, pushed his chest against the other driver and threatened to fight. He grabbed a wooden rod from his vehicle and yelled obscenities as the victim returned to his car and left. Several witnesses called police, providing his license plate number. When officers arrived at his house, he was drinking, so they were not able to determine if he had been consuming alcohol before driving.

32A 15-year-old Wauwatosa boy was arrested for underage drinking after he was seen stumbling down the bleachers during a basketball game at Wauwatosa West High School at 7:26 p.m. March 2. He said he had been drinking alcohol with friends before the game. His BAC was 0.12.

33Two Milwaukee woman, ages 19 and 20, were arrested for disorderly conduct after they started arguing with patrons in the Mayfair Mall food court at 6:07 p.m. March 3. The women said they believed the people were making fun of them so they starting yelling profanities. They became irate when security guards asked them to leave the mall.
