Is dog exercise area being enlarged?

Issue: A reader wants to know if the dog exercise area at Currie Park is being expanded. He noticed some brush has been cleared and a fence has been put up just west of the current exercise area.

Status: Jeff Baudry, Milwaukee County Parks marketing director, said the parks department is putting in a new dog exercise area next to the existing one.

The new area will be about three times as large as the current area and will be considered a running and exercise space, Baudry said. The existing area will be used more for rest and relaxation.

Baudry explained the expansion is necessary because the Currie dog park is so heavily used that the grass is having trouble growing.

The expansion will be completed in the spring or summer, Baudry said.
