Is there something you've heard that you would like to track down? Is there something in the city — like a pothole or playground equipment — that needs to be fixed? Rick Romano answers some of the mysteries of life in Wauwatosa and helps solve everyday problems.

What are the hours of the Hart Park splash pad?

Issue: A reader asked that question regarding the water feature at the playground. "There seems to be no consistency," she wrote. "Is there a schedule or is it a temperature thing?"

Status: The inconsistency of operation, said Park Supt. Ken Walbrant, is due to a burned-out controller. But there is a silver lining in park district staff having to operate it manually, he added.

"There are days when it is a little cool in the morning, so it's been a little more convenient to a little later in the morning to turn it on," he said. "We generally leave it on until 8 p.m. or so. We'll leave it on later during the events at the Rotary Stage."

Walbrant said he expects to eventually have the automatic setting restored once the new parts arrive.

"When we get all the electronics, we'll have one of our electricians install the parts," he said. "Until then, we'll turn it on and off manually."
