Christ King

On Friday, the kindergarten classes went on a field trip to First Stage Theater to see an energetic production of "Diary of a Worm, A Spider and a Fly." Everyone enjoyed the clever and often comical musical performance based on the popular book series by Joan Cushing. It was a great opportunity for the kids to think about what makes them unique and special while having a ton of fun.

Eisenhower Elementary

Students will perform a concert May 3.

Jefferson Elementary

High Interest Day will be May 4. Students will have an opportunity to explore many fascinating areas of interest.

Kradwell School

Kradwell students honored Earth Day by pulling weeds in the Kradwell Learning Gardens and picking up trash around campus. They felt the satisfaction of beautifying the community, as well as giving back.

Lincoln Elementary

Fifth-graders will head to Longfellow Middle School to see "The Music Man" on May 2. First-graders are taking a field trip to the Wauwatosa Public Library on May 3.

Longfellow Middle

The State Destination ImaginNation competition was held at Stevens Point on March 14. Destination ImagiNation is an educational program in which student teams solve open-ended challenges and present their solutions at tournaments and compete in an instant challenge - on-the-spot team problem-solving with a creative presentation responding to a challenge posed by the judges. Longfellow Middle School had three teams competing in the state tournament in the challenge categories of Improvisation, Structural and Community Outreach. The Pet People - Christina Dralle, Anna Felten, Emma Kessler, Evan Knauss and Carmen Prantil - took second place in the Project Outreach category. Their challenge was to identify a community need and develop a community service project to address the need. The Pet People team visits Wauwatosa elementary schools to teach young children how to properly care for pets to avoid unintentional animal abuse. The Pet People are partners with the Wisconsin Humane Society. The Pet People's second-place finish qualifies the team for Destination ImagiNation Global Finals tournament at University of Tennessee in Knoxville May 23 through May 26.

Madison Elementary

Madison students took part in a book fair this week, and next week is teacher appreciation week. A concert will be held at 6:30 p.m. May 9.

McKinley Elementary

The McKinley adult social will be held Saturday.

Mercy Academy

The third- through sixth-graders at Mercy Academy finished their weather unit by attending Weather Day at Miller Park on April 19. It was a fun-filled morning reviewing weather lessons and participating in hands-on activities throughout the stadium. The students were able to stay and watch the Milwaukee Brewers play the Los Angeles Dodgers that afternoon.

Our Redeemer Lutheran

First- through fourth-graders at Our Redeemer Lutheran School presented the musical "100% Chance of Rain" - the story of God's promise - to a full house last week. A very rainy night outside set the stage for a great show.

St. John

St. John Lutheran School will host a Night of the Arts in conjunction with Special Person's Night on May 4. The night will begin with a 3-year-old kindergarten through grade eight art fair, followed by the junior choir's presentation of the musical "The Granny Awards." A reception will be held in the school's commons area for families and their guests following the performance.

St. Joseph

Students will present "Schoolhouse Rock Live, Jr.!" at 6 p.m. April 26 and 7 p.m. April 27 and April 28. Tickets are available in the school office. Adults get in for $5 with a ticket purchased in advance or for $6 at the door. Elementary students get in for $4 with a ticket purchased in advance or $5 at the door. In other news, the school is still accepting registrations for K3 through grade eight. Call the school office at (414) 771-4626, Ext. 119, for information.

St. Jude the Apostle

With teachers concentrating on character education during the month of April, two assemblies were held last week to reinforce what students have been learning. First, Ronald McDonald visited and spoke with the younger children in a light-hearted and engaging presentation about inner strength and ways to cope with difficult situations. Older students enjoyed the NED show, a humorous yo-yo demonstration in which the presenter stressed the three NED principles: Never giving up, Encouraging others and Doing the right thing by making good choices.

Underwood Elementary

High Interest Day will be held May 4, giving students the chance to try their hands at many creative and interesting endeavors. Students in grades one and three will take part in the Underwood Fire Safety House on May 8.

Washington Elementary

On April 24, the Friends of Education honored educational office aide Terri Uden. The third-grade students will take a field trip to Historic Milwaukee from 9 to 11:15 a.m. April 26. Grandparents Day will be celebrated by the kindergarten students on April 27.

Wauwatosa Catholic

The drama club held auditions for the first Wauwatosa Catholic production. Students have been working hard learning lines and rehearsing for "Best of Both Worlds" to be performed for families, friends and community members May 17.

Wauwatosa West High

The Wauwatosa West Trojan Players will present Piers Chater Robinson's musical adaptation of J.M. Barrie's "Peter Pan," a full-scale musical production featuring flying effects, at 7 p.m. April 27, 2 p.m. April 28 and 7 p.m. May 4 and 5. Tickets cost $15 per adult, $12.50 per senior and $10 per student.
