Christ King

Fourth- and fifth-grade students are invited to join the school community from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday for Middle School Shadow Day. Visitors will shadow a current Christ King middle school student during this critical transitional stage in their educational development. They will sit in on classes, meet teachers and friends, and see what a personalized Catholic education is all about. Parents can meet with the principal for a brief question-and-answer session and school tour, if desired. Call ahead to register at (414) 258-4160.

Jefferson Elementary

Second-graders will participate in the Winter Wanderings program at the Schlitz Audubon Center on Tuesday. The students will help a confused "reporter" find out how animals survive winter in Wisconsin; they will search outdoors for signs that animals are present.

Longfellow Middle

The Wauwatosa School District music faculty will present Music on a Sunday. Vocal and instrumental performances by staff from elementary, middle and high schools will be given at 3 p.m. Sunday.

McKinley Elementary

Family Fun Night will feature games, a family photo area, a toddler's area and large tricycles for family races at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

Our Redeemer Lutheran

Forensics season has begun for five students. The team members and their categories are as follows: Caroline Hanson is in Poetry; Hunter Sadler, Mary Goodman, Brynn Flannery and Maddy Demski are in Prose. Meets this season will take them to Oconomowoc, Longfellow and Cudahy middle schools.

Roosevelt Elementary

Students and their families will enjoy a special way to start a busy day at the Sweet Treat Family Breakfast on Tuesday.

St. John

Students in 3-year-old kindergarten through grade eight will participate in Jump for Heart on Tuesday. This is the second year the school has participated in this fun and educational program that raises money used in the development of lifesaving research. In addition, three of four sessions for the preschool are filled. Applications are still being accepted for the last session.

St. Joseph

St. Joseph School is accepting registrations for children in 3-year-old kindergarten through grade eight. Visit the school website, StJosephSchoolTosa.com, to learn about what's happening at St. Joseph. There will be no tuition increase this year. St. Jude the Apostle

An open house for prospective new students and families will be held Feb. 20 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tours of the school will be provided by teams of parents, students and faculty. The principal, Catherine LaDien, will be on hand to meet with families. In other news, several students have advanced at the Regional MathCounts Competition and will represent St. Jude at the State competition. The team of Patrick English, Katy Folz, Nick Grebe and Jacob Webb placed first, while Will Miller and George Elliott placed in the top five in individual competitions.

Underwood Elementary

First-graders will see a performance of "Fancy Nancy" at Wisconsin Lutheran College in conjunction with the language arts curriculum Wednesday.

Wauwatosa Catholic

Fourth-grader Lydia Oberdorf earned first place at the diocesan level in the Knights of Columbus True Meaning of Christmas Poster Contest. Her artwork will move on to the state level.

Wauwatosa East High

Tosa East Friends of Theater Arts hosted a fundraiser concert for the school's theater department Saturday. Wauwatosa resident and renowned guitarist Greg Koch joined up with Roscoe Beck, a bass guitarist who has worked with Leonard Cohen and the Dixie Chicks, and Tom Brechtlein, a drummer who has worked with Chick Corea and Wayne Shorter. The trio performed a variety of tunes.

Wauwatosa West High

The Trojan Players performed Mary Chase's "Harvey," the tale of an imaginary giant anthropomorphic rabbit, and Elwood, the only person who can see him.

Wilson Elementary/STEM

A Principal's Coffee will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday to give parents an opportunity to discuss school issues in an informal setting with Principal Michael Leach.
