Christ King
The Forensics Team took second place for large-sized schools (eight entries or more) at the Holy Apostles meet on Saturday, March 1. The team also had one first-place individual winner and several second-place winners.
Eisenhower Elementary
Fifth graders will be sponsoring an after school popcorn sale in the front lobby on Friday, March 14 for $0.50 per bag. The sale will continue every other Friday until April 25.
Jefferson Elementary
Senior kindergartners will attend a program at the Gary E. Sampson Planetarium located in Wauwatosa West high school as an educational avenue for integration of literacy, math and art activities on Monday from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
Lincoln Elementary
Looking ahead, students will perform in our school play, "Willy Wonka," on March 21st at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Longfellow Middle School
As part of a PTA fundraiser, Longfellow will earn between 4-10 percent cash on every purchase you make on Amazon.com. All of the proceeds from the program this year will be used to purchase books for the classroom libraries. For fundraiser details, visit Longfellow Middle School's directions on its website.
Madison Elementary
Join Wauwatosa Mayor Kathy Ehley and Superintendent Dr. Phil Ertl for a town-hall meeting on Wednesday at Madison Elementary in the gym. Also attending will be City Administrator Jim Archambo, Aldermen Jason Wilke and Craig Wilson. The meeting is from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
McKinley Elementary
Students participating in Hoops for Heart will play exciting basketball games such as Hot-Shot Blitz, Top Gun and Quick Hands while raising funds for the American Heart Association. The event helps students develop healthy lifestyles that improve strength and endurance, reduce anxiety and stress, help control weight, build healthy bones and muscles and increase self-esteem. McKinley principal Mark Carter will take part in the event, which is Monday from 3:30 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.
Our Redeemer Lutheran
Students raised $5,678 for the American Heart Association through their participation in Hoops for Heart (grades five through eight) and Jump Rope for Heart (grades one through four.) In addition to the funds raised, students enjoyed the physical activity and healthy competition.
Roosevelt Elementary
Spring Fling is a parents night out to relax, socialize and most importantly raise money for Roosevelt Elementary. This year the goal is to raise enough money to purchase 12 to 15 new Chrome tablets. There will be beverages, appetizers and a DJ, in addition to a silent auction or raffle. The event is Saturday, March 22 in the Chancery Delmonte Room from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. and costs $15 per person if you pay by March 20; or is $20 at the door.
Underwood Elementary
Congratulations to Donna Bender, English Language Arts teacher at Longfellow MIddle School and Joel Marinan, Senior Kindergarten teacher at Underwood Elementary on being named 2014 Herb Kohl Educational Foundation Fellows.
Washington Elementary
First graders will attend a performance of "Anatole" at the First Stage Children's Theater on Thursday from 11:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m.
Wauwatosa Catholic
Saturday is the second annual Shamrockin' Eve to benefit the school's tuition assistance fund. Enjoy the Irish-themed appetizers, Irish music, silent auction, games and more on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at St. Pius X gymnasium. Cost is $15 per person or $25 for two. Students will wear their Shamrock' Eve shirts with jeans, or green, on Monday and make a $5 donation to the event.
Wauwatosa East High
Senior Ball will be held from 6:30-11:30 p.m. at the InterContinental Milwaukee Hotel, 139 E. Kilbourn Ave. on Saturday.
Wauwatosa Montessori
There will be an information meeting for the Upper Elementary Parents of the children going to Nature's Classroom on Tuesday. The meeting will be held in the Lower Level Board Room at the Montessori School from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Wauwatosa STEM
Buy a pound of Colectivo coffee on Friday and an average of $5 will go to funding the WILD project, purchasing curriculum, maintaining technology in the classroom and deferring field trip costs. Coffee will be served and sold outside, weather permitting, or in the hallways near the office.
Wauwatosa West High
The Wauwatosa West high school Trojan Players will present "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," on March 21, 22, 28 and 29 at 7 p.m. and on March 23 at 2 p.m. in the theater at West high school, 11400 W. Center St.
Whitman Middle
The orchestra has been invited to perform at Mayfair mall to celebrate "Music in Our Schools" month on Friday. Afterward, the students will attend their third Concert Adventure for the school year, performed by Eileen Ivers, Irish fiddler.
Wilson Elementary
Trinity Irish Dancers will perform in the gym Monday, March 17 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
