When the word "pancake" is in the name of your restaurant, people might jump to the conclusions that A.) you only serve breakfast, and B.) you only serve high-calorie offerings. In the case of Maxfield's Pancake House, neither is true.

Located in the One Mayfair Place strip mall at the corner of Mayfair Road and Center Street, Maxfield's is the second location for this casual breakfast and lunch eatery owned by Gus Zarmakoupis. (The other Maxfield's is in Fox Point.)

Manager Alisha Baackes said Maxfield's caters to the food lover in all of us: "We offer a comfortable, welcoming and happy atmosphere, and everything is made fresh. Any breakfast item or sandwich you can think of, we can customize it for you. We are really flexible and our food is priced very fair."

And if variety is the spice of your life, Maxfield's is the spot for you. Breakfast is served all day, and you'll find virtually any favorite breakfast item you can think of, including a huge selection of pancakes, French toast, crepes, waffles, omelets or traditional egg dishes. The corned beef hash ($7.49) is a crowd favorite that is made from scratch.

After 11 a.m, you'll find lunch options from salads and light sandwiches to some of the more popular items such as the gyro sandwich ($8.29) or the hamburger (half-pound $6.99 or 1/3-pound $6.49). The soups are made fresh daily and the variety of sandwiches is sure to please anyone.

For those worried about their waistline, you can find diet-friendly choices for breakfast or lunch, including fresh fruit, fresh vegetables and other lower-calorie items.

"If you haven't visited Maxfield's, I think you'll be impressed by the freshness of the food, Baackes said. "Everything is cooked from scratch and fresh ingredients are delivered daily. Plus, we are literally open 365 days a year. Most restaurants can't say that!"
