Police Report: Jan. 24

BURGLARY

1A snow blower and children's sled were taken from a locked garage in the 8300 block of Gridley Avenue between 8 a.m. Jan. 13 and 5 p.m. Jan. 17. Loss is estimated at $510.

2A garage was broken into in the 8300 block of Gridley Avenue at 5:56 p.m. Jan. 21. The homeowner heard the security alarm and saw the door had been damaged. Nothing appeared to be missing.

THEFT

3A 57-year-old Waukesha woman who rented a vehicle valued at $15,000 from Enterprise Rent-A-Car, 1826 N. Mayfair Road, Dec. 2 has yet to return it. The woman has not responded to a certified letter but made an unspecified payment to the company on Dec. 19.

4 A wallet valued at $130 was taken from an unattended purse at Aurora EAP, 4067 N. 92nd St., between 8 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Jan. 16. Credit cards were used to make fraudulent purchases totaling $608.

5Two Milwaukee girls, ages 14 and 15, were arrested for taking $157 worth of clothing from several shops at Mayfair, 2500 N. Mayfair Road, prior to 3:20 p.m. Jan. 16.

6A 28-year-old Rubicon man was arrested for theft of a prescription pad from the Beaver Medical Clinic, 11040 W. Bluemound Road, after he attempted to buy oxycodone with a forged prescription at a Walmart in Hartford at 3:56 p.m. Jan. 16. He was turned over to Hartford police for further investigation of the forgery.

A Tosa resident's credit card information was used to makes fraudulent purchases totaling $5,057 in Orlando, Fla., before 4 p.m. Jan. 17. He discovered the unauthorized purchases when he tried to use his credit card and was told it was already at its limit.

7A Global Positioning System valued between $100 and $200 was taken from a vehicle at the Radisson Hotel, 2303 N. Mayfair Road, between 7:30 p.m. Jan. 17 and 6:45 a.m. Jan. 18. A window had been broken to gain entry.

8A man took seven videogame controllers, a total value of $276, between 12:20 p.m. Jan. 18 and 12:20 p.m. Jan. 19. While doing inventory, three controllers were noticed to be missing Jan. 18. A check of security video showed the man forcibly removing the items from a rack and concealing them in his clothes. The next day, four more were gone and the same man was seen taking them.

9A 17-year-old Hartland girl was arrested for taking jeans valued at $148 from The Buckle at Mayfair at 3 p.m. Jan. 18. She drove off but police tracked her license plate and asked her to bring the jeans back to the store. They were torn where she removed the security tag and had salt stains on them because she had worn them in the snow. She was banned from the mall for five years.

10A briefcase and an MP3 player were taken from a vehicle in the 2300 block of North 65th Street between 7:30 and 8:45 p.m. Jan. 18. Loss is estimated at $180. A rock had been thrown through a window to gain entry.

11A cell phone and a tablet computer were taken from a vehicle at Pick 'n Save, 1717 Mayfair Road, between 10:08 and 10:37 a.m. Jan. 19. Loss is estimated at $1,150. A window had been broken to gain entry.

12Three personal checks were reported taken from a resident's living quarters at St. Camillus, 10101 W. Bluemound Road, and cashed for $2,867 at North Shore Bank in Milwaukee at 2:11 p.m. Jan. 19.

13A stereo, CDs and cash were taken from an unlocked vehicle at Bryant & Stratton College, 10950 W. Potter Road, between 8:40 and 11:20 a.m. Jan. 20. Loss is estimated at $260. The dashboard was damaged.

14Two Milwaukee girls, ages 14 and 15, were arrested for retail theft after they concealed $292 worth of clothing in their purses at Macy's in Mayfair at 7:40 p.m. Jan. 21.

15Two men took liquor and toilet paper, a value of $101, from CVS Pharmacy, 7520 W. Bluemound Road, at 5:13 p.m. Jan. 22. They left in a waiting minivan driven by a third man.

The Wauwatosa Police Department responded to nine thefts of items valued at less than $100 in the past week.

DRUG POSSESSION

16A 17-year-old Milwaukee boy was arrested for marijuana possession and underage possession of alcohol after his vehicle was pulled over in the 1500 block of North 68th Street for speeding at 3:47 p.m. Jan. 16. Two beers and a cigar containing marijuana were found in the vehicle.

17A 20-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for marijuana and drug paraphernalia possession at the Super 8 Motel, 115 N. Mayfair Road, at 12:05 a.m. Jan. 21. She had a marijuana pipe and 1.81 grams of the drug. She said she's been smoking daily since age 13.

OTHER

18Fraudulent checks totaling $3,000 were cashed by two men at two M&I Bank branches, 7501 W. North Ave. at 1:50 p.m. and 9210 W. North Ave at 2:09 p.m., Dec. 23.

19Four students enrolled at Wauwatosa West High School, 11400 W. Center St., were cited for habitual truancy Jan. 18. A 15-year-old Milwaukee boy had not attended school since receiving an initial citation Nov. 4. This was his second citation. A 16-year-old Tosa boy was cited for missing 20 days of school this year. He had been cited as a freshman as well. A 15-year-old Wauwatosa boy had missed 18 days of school, while a 17-year-old Tosa girl had been absent on 15 school days.

20A man tried to pay for two bottles of juice with a counterfeit $50 bill at Mobil, 8806 W. North Ave., at 12:55 p.m. Jan. 20. It was a $5 bill. He took back the money and left.

21A man paid for food with a counterfeit $10 at McDonald's, 3800 N. 124th St., at 7:21 p.m. Jan. 21. He offered to provide another bill, but was told by employees to pull out from the drive-thru into the parking lot and wait for police. He drove off, but police talked to him later that day. He said he received the counterfeit bill as change while running errands that day.

22A 27-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for disorderly conduct following an argument with his girlfriend in the roadway in the 7300 block of West Center Street at 3:48 p.m. Jan. 22. He had been asleep in a car when he got a call on his cellphone. The girlfriend, who was driving, answered the phone and got angry that another woman was calling. They argued, and she pulled over and ordered him out of the car. He grabbed her phone, so she ran after him. They were overheard shouting and he threw the phone, breaking it in the roadway. She flagged down a Milwaukee police officer who detained him as he was getting into another car. He had offered a man $100 to give him a ride out of the area. He was wanted on a Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office warrant for domestic violence.

23A woman left without paying her $121 bill for lodging and phone use at Extended Stay America, 11121 W. North Ave., before 11 a.m. Jan. 23.

The Wauwatosa Police Department responded to one domestic violence incident in the past week.

FIRE CALLS

24A vehicle started on fire and most of its interior and exterior burned after it was involved in a crash at Watertown Plank Road and Innovation Drive at 3:52 p.m. Jan. 19. A 29-year-old Mukwonago woman's vehicle struck a vehicle that had been stopped at a red light, so she was cited for following too closely. When she started her car to move it out of traffic, a fire ignited. Firefighters extinguished the car fire.
