Police Report: Jan. 3

1Two TVs, two electronic tablets, a camera, a laptop computer, video games, two portable DVD players and a videogame system, valued at $9,754, were taken from a home in the 11700 block of West Homewood Avenue between 8:15 p.m. Dec. 31 and 12:30 a.m. Jan. 1. A door was open and the house was in disarray.

2A garage door was pried open in the 6400 block of West North Avenue between 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. Jan. 1. It was not immediately known if anything had been taken.

THEFT

3Construction tools valued at $6,172 were taken from a van parked in an alley behind 4023 N. 93rd St. between Dec. 21 and 10 a.m. Dec. 27.

4A laptop computer valued at $800 was taken from Bluemound Dialysis, 601 N. 99th St., between 4 p.m. Dec. 23 and 8:07 a.m. Dec. 27.

5A cell phone valued at $125 was taken from a Cutco sales kiosk at Mayfair, 2500 N. Mayfair Road, between 2:30 and 3 p.m. Dec. 24.

6A checkbook and credit cards were taken from a shopper's purse at Target, 3900 N. 124th St., between 4 and 5 p.m. Dec. 26. Two women then used credit cards from the purse to make $430 in fraudulent charges at the store, according to security video.

7A 50-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for retail theft after he took DVDs valued at $350 from Target at 2:24 p.m. Dec. 27. He concealed items under his coat and struggled with a security guard when he was stopped at the store exit. He said he was addicted to heroin and had just used up his trust fund so he needed items to sell for drug money.

8Three blank checks were taken from a woman a and they were cashed for a total of $2,800 at 3:40 p.m. Dec. 27.

9A cell phone, radio, sunglasses and coins, valued at $659, were taken from two unlocked vehicles in the 7200 block of Grand Parkway between 6 p.m. Dec. 27 and 8 a.m. Dec. 28. An officer already was responding to the theft of $10 in coins from another unlocked vehicle along the street.

10Two Milwaukee women, ages 23 and 26, were arrested for retail theft after they selected purses and scarves valued at $1,074 and walked to a corner of Macy's to conceal the items at 8:48 p.m. Dec. 27. The older woman was arrested for marijuana possession after she was found to have 1.07 grams of the drug. She also has a warrant for driving after her license had been suspended.

11An 18-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for stealing a pair of jeans and two shirts, valued at $148, from Macy's at Mayfair at 3:26 p.m. Dec. 28. The man put on the jeans under his pants and left, only to come back an hour later to try the same with shirts.

12A cell phone, backpack and boots, valued at $274, were taken from a locked locker at the West Suburban YMCA, 2420 N. 124th St., between 5 and 8:30 p.m. Dec. 28. The owner called the phone and the man who answered said he'd sell it back for $140.

13A cell phone valued at $700 was taken while the owner shopped at Boston Store at Mayfair at 6:54 p.m. Dec. 28. The woman put the phone down on a counter and became distracted.

14A vehicle cargo carrier and large piece of steal, valued at $325, were taken from a trailer in a driveway in the 4100 block of North 97th Street between 9:30 a.m. Dec. 29 and 4 p.m. Dec. 30.

15A catalytic converter valued at $696 was taken from a vehicle in the 2900 block of North 124th Street between 5 p.m. Dec. 29 and 10 a.m. Dec. 31.

16A woman took a wallet, cash and credit cards from three purses at two hair salons - Design Down Under, 11607 W. Bluemound Road, and Ahead of Times, 11512 W. Bluemound Road - about 7 p.m. Dec. 29. In each case she said she planned to by gift cards but was waiting for a family member who had the money. She hung out in the lobby a bit then left without purchasing anything. The credit cards were later used at Mayfair.

17A wallet valued at $120 was taken from a purse that was hanging on the back of a chair at Buffalo Wild Wings, 2635 N. Mayfair Road, about 9 p.m. Dec. 29. A credit card from the wallet was used at a convenience store.

18Two copper downspouts valued at $100 were taken from a home in the 7200 block of West Wisconsin Avenue at 5:48 p.m. Dec. 30. Three additional downspouts had been taken the prior week.

19A 24-year-old homeless man was arrested for retail theft and bail-jumping after he was seen opening boxes of video game controllers valued at $150 at Kmart, 3201 N. Mayfair Road, at 3:24 p.m. Dec. 30. He had taken about a dozen controllers in the past week to sell to support his heroin addiction. He was on probation for a burglary he committed in Milwaukee earlier in the month.

20A man took a container with $50 in cash and coin that was to be donated to the Ronald McDonald House from the counter at Yo Mama, 1349 Wauwatosa Ave., at 3:47 p.m. Dec. 30. He had been in the store asking about yogurt cake sizes.

21Two 15-year-old girls and a 19-year-old man, all from Milwaukee, were arrested for retail theft at Macy's at 6:27 p.m. Dec., 30. They had all entered the same fitting room and were filling their bags with items valued at $232. The girls said the man told them to steal, then he'd return the items for store credit and buy them something with a portion of it. He had a warrant for failing to appear in court on numerous misdemeanors.

22A purse valued a $150 was taken from the food court at Mayfair between 7:45 and 8 p.m. Dec. 30. The purse was over the back of a chair and the owner recalled a couple stop behind her and get uncomfortably close while they argued.

23Two Milwaukee men, ages 19 and 21, were arrested for taking liquor valued at $51 from Pick 'n Save, 6950 W. State St., at 8:55 p.m. Dec. 30. The older man was arrested on a second count as he was recognized from a theft two days prior when liquor valued at $62 was taken.

24A purse valued at $105 was taken from an unlocked vehicle at Alioto's, 3041 N. Mayfair Road, between 6:30 and 9 p.m. Dec. 31. A credit card was used at the AMC Theatre and Dave & Buster's to make $162 in fraudulent charges.

25A debit card that had been left in an ATM was used to fraudulently withdraw $300 at Mayfair at 1:53 p.m. Jan. 2.

26A purse, cell phone and jewelry, valued at $2,000 were taken from a vehicle at Dave & Buster's, 2201 N. Mayfair Road, between 2:15 and 3:42 p.m. Jan. 2. A credit card was used to make fraudulent charges in Milwaukee.

Police responded to nine thefts of items valued at less than $100 in the past week.

DRUG POSESSION

27A 19-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for drug possession after he was found with a bottle full of prescription pills in his pocket at Mayfair at 7:57 p.m. Dec. 30. He had given the middle finger to a security guard after being carded on the mall's Parental Guidance Required policy. He was upset and swearing and refused to leave. He had a pill bottle with no label that contained oxycodone and methadone that he had taken from his grandmother. He had a warrant from the Franklin Police Department.

DRUNKEN DRIVING

28A 61-year-old Wauwatosa woman was arrested for drunken driving after she drove her car into a parked vehicle in the 2400 block of North 73rd Street at 6:46 p.m. Dec. 28. The owner ran out and told the woman she was calling the police. The driver took off but her vehicle was tracked to an open garage on the block. The brake lights were on and she was slumped in the driver's seat. She had a blood alcohol content of 0.20.

29A 43-year-old Wauwatosa woman was arrested for drunken driving after she was so intoxicated that she fell at Club Tap, 8828 W. North Ave., then left the bar driving a vehicle at 8:34 p.m. Dec. 28. Two bar employees ran up to a squad car and reported the woman was driving under the influence. Officers received a call reporting a woman matching her description nearly passing out in the drive-thru of McDonald's, 6631 W. North Ave. She was then seen almost striking a parked vehicle and light pole at 66th and Lloyd streets. Her BAC was 0.279, more than three times the legal limit.

30A 23-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for drunken driving after her vehicle was seen swerving at Bluemound Road and Honey Creek Parkway at 2:21 a.m. Dec. 30. Her BAC was 0.10.

ACCIDENT

31A 24-year-old woman was taken to Froedtert Hospital for neck pain after she sideswiped another vehicle while making a wide turn into a driveway in the 6800 block of West State Street at 2:11 p.m. Dec. 28.

32A 28-year-old Milwaukee County Sheriff's deputy was taken to Froedtert Hospital after he lost control of his squad car on the icy Highway 45 off-ramp at Mayfair Road at 5:50 a.m. Dec. 29. He had been dispatched to a crash at the highway off-ramp at Watertown Plank Road and had his lights and siren activated. He slowed entering the off-ramp but started sliding until he stuck the concrete barrier, jumped the curb and hit a wire fence and five metal posts. He had a sore shoulder and the squad car had to be towed.

33A 42-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man were taken to Froedtert Hospital for neck and back pain after their vehicle was struck from behind at 76th Street and Wisconsin Avenue at 6:03 a.m. Dec. 29. The woman was uncooperative as paramedics tried to immobilize her neck and back. She said she was going to be late for a neck surgery scheduled at Froedtert. No citations were issued due to icy road conditions.

VANDALISM

34A 20-year-old West Allis man was arrested for vandalism after he used his keys to scratch another man's car at Mayfair at 1 p.m. Dec. 26. He had pulled into a parking spot that the other driver had been waiting for and they exchanged words. Then as the other driver found another parking spot, the man again appeared and tried to get there first. When the owner of the other vehicle returned from the mall, he found his vehicle damaged.

35Windows were broken on a vehicle in the 1100 block of Kavanaugh Place, causing $200 in damage at 10 p.m. Dec. 26.

36A window was broken on a van in the 10000 block of Ruby Avenue, causing $500 in damage between 7:30 and 7:50 p.m. Dec. 27. The words "juice" and "aloha" were spray-painted in neon yellow on the car wash building at Uptown Lincoln Mercury, 2111 N. Mayfair Road, at 3:14 a.m. Dec. 31. Other words, including "merry xmas," "hielo" and "DMC," were painted in black.

OTHER

37A 15-year-old Milwaukee boy was arrested for underage drinking after he fell and hit his head exiting Mayfair at 3:28 p.m. Dec. 28. The boy had been dropped off at the mall to meet a girl for a movie. When she arrived, he pulled out a large water bottle filled with vodka. During the movie he drank the liquor and started acting obnoxious, so the girl walked out of the movie. He followed her but was having difficulty walking and he stumbled and struck his forehead. He couldn't answer questions coherently so he was taken to Children's Hospital.

38A 15-year-old Milwaukee boy was arrested for prowling and underage drinking after he was seen looking into a car and trying its door handles in the Macy's parking lot at 9:37 p.m. Dec. 30. He smelled of alcohol.

Police responded to two domestic violence incidents in the past week.

FIRE

39A minor fire caused by electric de-icing equipment started on the roof of a two-story home in the 1900 block of Menomonee River Parkway on Dec. 29.

Wauwatosa Fire Department responded to 95 incidents, including two cooking fires, eight vehicle accidents and 70 calls for emergency medical service in the past week.
