Police Report: July 12

BURGLARY

1Clothing, luggage and toys, valued at $2,860, were taken from a locked basement storage area in the 11100 block of West Meinecke Avenue between April 21 and July 4.

2Twenty-nine bottles of oil and oil cleaner, valued at $627, were taken from Fast Track Lube, 6207 W. North Ave., at 10:12 p.m. July 3. A door had been forced open and there were pry marks on the cash register.

3Hoses with sprinkles attached, valued at $45, were taken from a locked storage area in the Normandy Village Apartments, 2562 N. 124th St., between 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. July 6. Two days later, the apartment manager saw a truck driven by people who were not tenants at the entrance of the underground parking area with those items in its truck bed.

4A bicycle valued at $1,300 was taken from a garage that had been forced open in the 2500 block of North 64th Street between 2:30 p.m. July 7 and 7:30 a.m. July 8.

5A GPS valued at $100 was taken from a vehicle inside a locked garage in the 2400 block of North 65th Street between 4 p.m. July 7 and 8:50 a.m. July 8. The lock had been pried open.

6A bicycle was taken from an unlocked garage in the 6700 block of West Clarke Street between 10 p.m. July 7 and 10:30 a.m. July 8.

THEFT

7A wallet was taken from a purse hanging from the handle of a stroller in the Mayfair food court at 7 p.m. June 29. A credit card was used at a Target in Milwaukee to make $800 in fraudulent charges.

8A bicycle valued at $2,500 was taken from a yard in the 2100 block of North 119th Street between 8 p.m. June 29 and 2:30 p.m. June 30.

9A 21-year-old Franklin man was arrested for retail theft after he slid sunglasses valued at $295 into a Build-a-Bear store box at Solstice at Mayfair, 2500 N. Mayfair Road, at 4:49 p.m. July 2.

10A cellphone valued at $500 was taken from Wet Seal at Mayfair after the owner left it on a display rack at 7:24 p.m. July 2. The owner called and texted the phone numerous times until she received a reply from the person who had the phone telling her to stop texting.

11A woman used a stolen credit card to buy swimwear valued at $133 at Target, 3900 N. 124th St., between noon and 1 p.m. July 3.

12A cellphone valued at $450 was taken from the display at the AT&T kiosk in Mayfair between 4:40 and 4:55 p.m. July 4.

13An 18-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy, both from Milwaukee, were arrested for retail theft after they took numerous boxes of electric toothbrush replacement heads valued at $145 from Walmart Neighborhood Market, 3850 N. 124th St., at 4:59 p.m. July 4. A group of people were entering and exiting the store without buying anything. Two of the people were seen opening packages and trying to return the replacement heads. Additional replacement heads, water filters and a kitchen knife in packages were found in their vehicle.

A Wauwatosa man's personal information was used to fraudulently open credit cards on July 5 and 6 and make more than $1,600 in charges.

14A catalytic converter valued at $150 was taken from a vehicle at Luther Manor, 4545 N. 92nd St., between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. July 5.

15A 50-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for possession of stolen property and trespassing after she took jewelry valued at $338 from Aldo, Macy's and Ann Taylor stores at Mayfair at 5:22 p.m. July 5. She said she was HIV positive and needs jewelry to cover up scars and sores on her arms. She also intended to sell some of the pieces to buy alcohol. She had been banned from the mall after a 2009 retail theft.

16A messenger bag holding items including an iPad valued at $870 was taken from an unlocked vehicle at Mo's Irish Pub, 10842 W. Bluemound Road, between 5:15 and 6:30 p.m. July 5.

17A 46-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for retail theft after he took boxes of diapers valued at $132 from Walgreens, 2656 Wauwatosa Ave., and boarded a Milwaukee County bus at 4:37 p.m. July 6. The bus was stopped at 76th and Nash streets. He said he takes the diapers so his mother can sell them for drug money. He had a warrant with the state Department of Correction for violating parole. He had 11 prior retail theft arrests.

18A 19-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for retail theft after she stuffed clothing valued at $228 into a purse at Target at 11:45 a.m. July 7. She said her mother had kicked her out and she had no belongings.

19An electronic tablet valued at $730 was taken from an unlocked vehicle in the 600 block of Honey Creek Parkway between 4 and 10 p.m. July 7.

20A 45-year-old New Berlin man was arrested for retail theft after he pocketed sunglasses valued at $179 from Solstice at 5:52 p.m. July 7.

21A wallet was taken at Pick 'n Save, 6950 W. State St., at 3:28 p.m. July 8. A credit card was used to make $265 in fraudulent charges.

22A wallet valued at $450 was taken from a customer's purse at Panera Bread in Mayfair at 12:08 p.m. July 9.

23An unlocked bicycle valued at $350 was taken from the rack at Wauwatosa East High School, 7500 Milwaukee Ave., between 12:30 and 2 p.m. July 9.

Wauwatosa Police Department responded to 16 thefts of items valued at less than $100 in the past week.

DRUG POSSESSION

24A bag containing 0.87 grams of marijuana was found on a display counter at Radio Shack, 6407 W. North Ave., at 3:22 p.m. July 7.

DRUNKEN DRIVING

25A 23-year-old Wauwatosa man was arrested for drunken driving, third offense, and driving with a revoked license after he was seen having trouble driving stick shift at North Avenue and 113th Street at 12:41 a.m. June 28.

26A 46-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for drunken driving fourth offense and driving after his license had been revoked when his car was pulled over for an expired registration at Vliet and 60th streets at 9:05 p.m. July 2. He refused a breath test.

27A 65-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for drunken driving after he nearly struck a pedestrian crossing at State Street and Harwood Avenue at 6:15 p.m. July 5. Before he was stopped, he fell asleep behind the wheel until a different pedestrian knocked on his window to wake him and tried to convince him to pull over his vehicle. His blood alcohol content was 0.15.

28A 34-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for drunken driving after he nearly struck another vehicle at 83rd Street and North Avenue at 10 p.m. July 7. When he was pulled over on 68th Street, he got out of his vehicle and scaled a fence, falling onto the other side. He ran through yards and was found the man hiding behind a garage in the 2300 block of 67th Street.

29A 20-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for drunken driving with minors in the vehicle and driving with a person riding illegally after an officer saw four people stuffed into the back seat of his car at 76th Street and Bluemound Road at 11:50 p.m. July 7. They had come from a party and decided the tallest person would drive rather than squish into the backseat. His state ID had expired. His BAC was 0.10.

30A 58-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for drunken driving after his vehicle was seen swerving at 67th Street and Garfield Avenue at 12:52 a.m. July 8. He refused a breath test.

ACCIDENT

31A 30-year-old woman was taken to St. Joseph Hospital after her truck was struck from behind and pushed into another car at a traffic light at Swan Boulevard and North Avenue at 7:34 a.m. July 3. The driver of the striking vehicle, a 33-year-old man, was cited for following too closely.

32A 44-year-old man was taken to Froedtert Hospital after he was struck and knocked from his bicycle in the 11200 block of West North Avenue at 11:18 a.m. July 4. The driver, a 77-year-old man, was cited for unsafe line deviation. He changed lanes merging on North Avenue from Highway 45 and didn't see the bicyclist. The bike rider hit the back of his head on the ground, cracking his helmet, and slid 30 feet on his back into a curb.

33A 51-year-old woman was taken to Froedtert Hospital after she had a seizure while driving and struck a parked car at 68th and Wells streets at 2:30 p.m. July 6. She was unconscious behind the wheel and the doors were locked so a pedestrian broke the window and turned off the engine. She regained consciousness and didn't have any injuries. No citations were issued.

34A 68-year-old man was taken to Froedtert Hosptal after he was struck by a vehicle outside Metcalfe's Market, 6700 W. State St., at 10:19 a.m. July 8. He had been carrying boxes that blocked his view. He rolled over the car's hood and fell hitting his head. No citations were issued.

VANDALISM

35Nine holes were shot with BBs through the window of a house in the 6300 block of West Wells Street between July 1 and 8 causing $1,200 in damage.

36A steering column and ignition were damaged on a vehicle in the 2300 block of North 60th Street nbetween 8:30 p.m. July 2 and 12:50 p.m. July 3.

OTHER

37A woman dropped off a fraudulent prescription for Oxycodone at Walgreens, 2275 N. Mayfair Road, at 2:27 p.m. July 2. It was written on a prescription pad from a health care system that the prescribing doctor didn't work in.

38A 21-year-old Verona man was arrested for drug paraphernalia possession after he was seen smoking marijuana in the parking lot of Dave and Buster's, 2201 N. Mayfair Road, before 9:41 p.m. The police dog was brought in to search the employee locker room and he detected the scent coming from the employee's backpack. He had a jar containing trace marijuana remnants.

39A 30-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for aggressive panhandling after he was seen holding a sign saying he was hungry and needed money at Capitol Drive and 124th Street at 5:24 p.m. July 5.

Wauwatosa Police Department responded to two domestic violence incidents in the past week.

ARSON

40A portable bathroom was set on fire at Hartung Park at Keefe Avenue and Menomonee River Parkway at 11:52 p.m. July 1. A neighbor heard an explosion and saw the bathroom on fire. He also noticed a vehicle speeding away. The Fire Department extinguished the fire. Damage was estimated at $800.
