Police Report: Nov. 14

BURGLARY

1A door was pried, but not opened, in an attempted burglary of a garage in the 2600 block of North 68th Street between 9:30 p.m. Nov. 6 and 6:30 a.m. Nov. 7. The victim's garage had been burglarized in the past, which prompted him to put a metal plate on the door. The metal plate stopped the would-be burglars.

2A home was burglarized in the 6500 block of West Meinecke Avenue between 9:30 and 11:20 a.m. Nov. 7. The thieves broke the back window of the house, valued at $300, to take $10 in cash.

3A television, video game system, laptop computer and two packs of checks were taken from an apartment in the 7200 block of West Center Street between 9:30 a.m. and 4:52 p.m. Nov. 8. The thieves broke through the front door, which was dead bolted shut, took the items, and left through the back door.

4A woman reported two males tried to break into her home in the 6400 block of West Wright Street at 5:51 p.m. Nov. 9 She said they rang her doorbell, but she did not answer due to it being dark out and her not expecting guests. She said that she heard the two talking outside of her window and when she went to look they were trying to cut her screen open. When they saw her, they fled.

THEFT

5A 2007 Toyota Camry was taken from a house in the 4000 block of North 107th Street between 11 p.m. Nov. 5 and 9:30 a.m. Nov. 6. The vehicle's keys are accounted for, the alarm didn't sound and there is no evidence of how the car was taken. Total loss is $8,600.

6Tools valued at $980 were taken from the back of a pickup truck parked in the 2300 block of North 65th Street between 7:45 and 9:15 p.m. Nov. 6. One of the machines taken was tied down and was larger than the bed of the pickup truck.

7A 22-year-old Milwaukee woman and a 16-year-old Milwaukee girl were arrested for retail theft after taking $189 worth of clothing from Forever 21 and Buckle, 2500 N. Mayfair Road, at 7:51 p.m. Nov. 6. The 22-year-old has had three prior retail theft convictions.

8A 31-year-old Wauwatosa man and a 24-year-old Milwaukee man were arrested for taking clothing from Gap Kids, 2500 N. Mayfair Road, at 5:09 p.m. Nov. 7. The two tried running from security guards who recognized them from previous thefts. The 31-year-old has one prior retail theft and the 24-year-old man has three between 2009 and 2012.

9A cellphone valued at $500 was taken from an employee of Payless Shoe Source, 2500 N. Mayfair Road, between 7:30 and 8 p.m. Nov. 8. She was assisting customers when she put her phone in a cart to grab shoes on a high shelf. When she came back, her phone and the customers were both missing.

10A laptop computer valued at $600 was taken from a car at YMCA, 2420 N. 124th St. at 6:59 a.m. Nov. 9. The thieves smashed a window to get at the computer, causing $250 in damage.

11A 15-year-old Wauwatosa boy is believed to have taken multiple gaming systems from a house he was staying at in the 1600 block of North 120th Street on Nov. 10. The boy was temporarily living with the family in the house through a foster care program. Loss is totaled at $650.

12A 53-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for retail theft after taking 10 polo shirts from Macy's at Mayfair, 2500 N. Mayfair Road, at 11:19 a.m. Nov. 11. The man said he was going to sell the shirts and give the money to his girlfriend. Total value of items taken is $855.

Police responded to three thefts of items valued at less than $100 this past week.

ASSAULT

13An 18-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for assault after he ripped a radio out of his girlfriend's car, took her purse, the keys out of the car and her phone in the parking lot of Mayfair Mall, 2500 N. Mayfair Road, at 5:28 p.m. Nov. 10. She said the man also bit her cheek and choked her. When mall security came after him, he ran away. He was found later by police, and denies any wrongdoing.

14A 38-year-old New Berlin man was arrested for disorderly conduct after a customer at Nail Arts, 2500 N. Mayfair Road, alleged that he attacked her foot at 5:49 p.m. Nov. 10. The customer said that after she had complained about his work, he slammed her foot against a soaking tub repeatedly.

DRUG POSSESSION

15An 18-year-old West Allis man was arrested for possession of paraphernalia after police found him hiding in a house in the 800 block of North 64th Street at 9:50 a.m. Nov. 7. The man's friend had taken him into his parent's house without their permission, so they called the police on him. The police found a marijuana pipe on him during the arrest.

DRUNKEN DRIVING

16A 22-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for drunken driving, second offense, in the 2400 block of Wauwatosa Avenue at 11:48 p.m. Nov. 7. The car made a rolling stop through a red light on Wauwatosa Avenue. The car's speed jumped from 30 to 50 and back down again while driving. It also nearly hit the curb multiple times. The car continued going through a bicycle lane. The man had a revoked license. His blood alcohol content was 0.15.

17A 29-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for drunken driving, third offense, at Menomonee River Parkway and Charles Hart Parkway at 2:34 a.m. Nov. 11. The man crossed the centerline, stopped for yield to pedestrian signs and was driving with a suspended license and no insurance. The man refused to take a Breathalyzer test and blood draw results are pending.

ACCIDENTS

18A 66-year-old woman was taken to Froedtert Hospital after she crashed with a vehicle in the intersection of West Wisconsin Avenue and North 97th Street at 1 p.m. Nov. 6. She was turning left through a green light when the second vehicle, driven by a 31-year-old woman who was later taken to Wisconsin Heart Hospital, hit her. The first driver was given a ticket for failure to yield.

19A woman was taken to Froedtert Hospital for head and neck pain after she was rear-ended in the 10700 block of Watertown Plank Road at 1:56 p.m. Nov. 6. The second driver said while he braked, he could not stop. He was issued citations for driving too fast, not having insurance and operating after suspension.

20A 57-year-old woman was taken to Froedtert Hospital for whiplash after she was rear-ended by a 27-year-old man in the 11800 block of West Capitol Drive at 3:44 p.m. Nov. 6. The man was following her when she stopped for a yellow light, causing him to crash into her. He was given a ticket for following an automobile too closely.

OTHER

A man called police after receiving a phone bill that was not in his name for five cellphones, totaling $521.89 on Oct. 13. The letter was addressed to someone else and the bill was opened at a Best Buy in Arizona.

A 43-year-old man called police after receiving a letter from Dressbarn thanking him for applying for a credit card on Oct. 31. Dressbarn is a women's clothing store. The card was used to buy $400 worth of items. The store is not holding the man accountable.

21The driver of a silver Mustang in the early 2000s led police on a chase in the 1700 block of North 116th Street at 5:31 p.m. Nov. 3. The police thought the vehicle had been involved in an earlier crash, and decided to pursue it. The vehicle took off and eluded police after they received orders from dispatch to end the pursuit. The pursuit lasted 1 mile and saw speeds in excess of 73 mph.

A woman called police after a Craigslist scam lost her $1,700 on Nov. 5 at 6:38 p.m. She had taken a personal assistant job offer out of state and received a $1,980 check from the job contact. The check was sent to her under the pretense that she send a $1,700 check to a person in Benin. The check she received was fraudulent.

22A counterfeit $100 bill was used at Walmart Market, 2850 N. 124th St., at 4:39 p.m. Nov. 7. The watermark did not match the bill, but instead matched the Lincoln on $5 bills.

A 56-year-old man called police at 6:28 p.m. Nov. 10 after he received multiple charges on his credit card from Missouri. The card received three charges, totaling $1,255, from a company called Get Easy Tech out of Great Britain. The same credit card was used on Aug. 10 for $230 from Get Easy Tech.

Police responded to four domestic disturbance related calls this past week.
