Police Report: Oct. 26

ROBBERY

1An undisclosed amount of cash was taken at apparent gunpoint from the register at Walgreens, 2656 N. Wauwatosa Ave., at 9:03 p.m. Oct. 22. The store clerk told police a man about 18 years old dropped a drawstring backpack on the counter and ordered him to fill it with the register's contents. He said the man had a hand inside his jacket and told him to "put it in or I'll pop you."

BURGLARY

2A television, laptop and jewelry were taken from a home in the 2100 block of North 67th Street on Oct. 15. Loss is estimated at $750.

3An MP3 player, headphones and cash were taken from a guest room at the Holiday Inn, 1111 W. North Ave., between 9:30 a.m. and 10 p.m. Oct. 15. Loss is estimated at $170.

THEFT

4A purse, cash, a checkbook and several credit cards valued at $1,095 were taken from an SUV in the parking lot of the Wisconsin Athletic Club, 8700 W. Watertown Plank Road, between 5:45 and 6:15 p.m. Oct. 13. The driver-side door had been forced open.

5A personal touch-screen computer valued at $300 was taken from an unlocked gym locker at Wauwatosa East High School, 7500 Milwaukee Ave., at 8:10 a.m. Oct. 18.

6A 36-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman, both from Milwaukee, were arrested for attempting to steal $140 worth of body spray and shampoo from Metcalf's Market, 6700 W. State St. at 4:49 p.m. Oct. 18. The pair had 25 prior retail theft arrests between them.

7A cell phone valued at $500 was reported lost in the parking lot at Target, 3900 N. 124th St., at 11:39 a.m. Oct. 19, but was later reported stolen after someone called one of the stored phone numbers. The phone's owner told police that her place of employment was called from the phone by someone with a Jamaican accent.

8A 20-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for stealing baby formula and clothing, a $147 value, from Target, 3900 N. 124th St., at 3:07 p.m. Oct. 20.

9A cell phone, music player, GPS unit and gym bag were taken from a vehicle parked just south of Crate and Barrel at Mayfair, 2500 N. Mayfair Road, between 4:15 and 5:45 p.m. Oct. 21. Loss is estimated at $820.

10A nursing college textbook and notebook were taken from a vehicle in the 6600 block of West Bluemound Road between 7 p.m. Oct. 21 and 7:30 a.m. Oct. 22. Loss is estimated at $250.

11A 23-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for taking clothing valued at $218 from Baby Gap at Mayfair at 3:05 p.m. Oct. 22. The woman was first noticed taking a pair of jeans to her vehicle where authorities discovered additional items.

12A van was taken from a home in the 4500 block of North 105th Street between 8:30 a.m. and 9:15 p.m. Oct. 22. Someone had entered the garage and taken the vehicle's keys. The resident said a similar garage break-in occurred the previous day. In that incident, four packs of cigarettes were taken. The value of all items taken is estimated at $8,000.

13Two 16-year-old Milwaukee girls were arrested for stealing two pairs of jeans and a sweatshirt, a value of $355, from Macy's in Mayfair at 1:42 p.m. Oct. 23.

There were three incidents of theft of items valued at less than $50 last week.

DRUNKEN DRIVING

14A 25-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for drunken driving after he was seen continuously ramming his vehicle into another vehicle in the parking lot at Kmart, 3201 N. Mayfair Road, at 11:29 a.m. Oct. 23. The tires on his vehicle had been worn to the rims, apparently from the continuous ramming action.

ACCIDENTS

15A two-car collision near the intersection of Glenview and Harwood avenues at noon Oct. 18 resulted in minor injuries. The drivers were both men, ages 64 and 65. One was taken to Froedtert Hospital with a complaint of neck pain. No citations were issued.

16A 93-year-old Kenosha woman was cited after her vehicle struck another vehicle while making a U-turn from the right eastbound lane at 8800 Watertown Plank Road at 12:42 p.m. Oct. 21. The woman told police that she realized she needed to go in the opposite direction and did not notice the other vehicle traveling in the left lane behind her. The driver of the other vehicle, a 31-year-old Milwaukee woman, was taken by Milwaukee Fire Department ambulance to Froedtert Hospital with a complaint of neck pain. The cited driver refused treatment.

17A 55-year-old woman was cited for failure to yield at a stop sign when her vehicle collided with a vehicle driven by a 44-year-old woman at 8:13 a.m. Oct. 24. The cited driver was attempting to cross North Avenue on 69th Street and struck a vehicle traveling west on North Avenue.

VANDALISM

18A vehicle's rear doors were scratched in the parking lot at Mayfair between 5:30 and 6:40 p.m. Oct. 20. The scratches reportedly were more than two feet long. The vehicle owner said she was involved in a verbal confrontation over a parking spot with an unidentified man driving an SUV before she parked her car.

19The words "Y3K Lives On" with an arrow-type design were written in black marker on a men's room wall at Hart Park, 7300 Chestnut St., between 6:10 p.m. Oct. 21 and 8:50 a.m. Oct. 22.

20A vehicle's rear window was shattered and side door dented in the 7200 block of West Center Street before 4 p.m. Oct. 23.

OTHER

21A man is suspected of using fraudulent credit cards to buy two e-readers, a value of $500, at Barnes and Noble in Mayfair at 3:50 p.m. Oct. 18.

22A 19-year-old Wauwatosa woman was arrested for disorderly conduct after she punched out a window at her home in the 900 block of North 123rd Street at 10:43 p.m. Oct. 18.

23A man of about 25 passed a counterfeit bill and received more than $97 in change at Goodwill, 12121 W. Feerick St. at 3:33 p.m. Oct. 19. The man, described as having a distinct lightning bolt tattoo on his left temple, was last seen behind the nearby Pick 'n Save.

24Three businesses along West Capitol Drive reported the same customer attempted to pass counterfeit $50 and $100 bills between 8 and 10 p.m. Oct. 20. The man, estimated to be in his mid 20s, paid with a $50 bill for two drinks at Starbucks, 12345 W. Capitol Drive. He tried to pass a $100 bill for two burritos at Qdoba, but the clerk said she did not believe the bill to be real. He also paid for a pack of cigarettes with a $50 bill at Walgreens, 10800 W. Capitol Drive.

25A traffic stop for a seat belt infraction in the 8000 block of West Center Street turned into a drug possession arrest and more at 2:27 p.m. Oct. 22. Police arrested a 25-year-old Milwaukee woman, a passenger in the vehicle, for possession of drug paraphernalia related to heroin use. The woman and a 51-year-old Pewaukee man, who was the driver, also were arrested on outstanding warrants. Another passenger, a 37-year-old Milwaukee man, was arrested for possessing a counterfeit $100 bill.
