BURGLARY

1A 1984 Ford Mustang, a 1983 Eagle SX4 and a truck refrigeration unit were taken from a garage in the 400 block of North 68th Street between 1 p.m. March 21 and 6 p.m. Sept. 21. A wood-burning stove and storm door are missing as well. The owner was renting the property to his aunt and her adult children and discovered the items were missing after evicting them. The vehicles were not running or registered and would have had to have been towed out of the garage. Loss is estimated at $11,200.

2A ring valued between $5,000 and $6,000 was taken from a house in the 7000 block of Milwaukee Avenue between 9 and 11 p.m. Sept. 17. The wedding ring was sitting next to another wedding ring, which was not stolen. A Wii videogame system and other jewelry were found out of place.

3A 37-year-old Wauwatosa man was arrested for burglary after entering his parents' house in the 600 block of North 68th Street at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 20 while they were on vacation. He did not have permission to be at the house. The man admitted to having a drug problem and nowhere else to go. He admitted to staying at his parents' house for two days and taking $26 in coins.

THEFT

A woman called the police station after receiving 20 phone calls requesting her checking account number between Sept. 2 and Sept. 17. The calls were from people who claimed to be from the Federal Trade Commission. The numbers that weren't blocked were private landline numbers from Washington, D.C.

4A GPS unit valued at $100 was taken from a vehicle in the 4100 block of North 96th Street between 8 p.m. Sept. 12 and 9 a.m. Sept. 20. The vehicle's window was smashed to gain entry. About $80 worth of items were taken from a second vehicle, this one in the alley. It's windows also were smashed.

5A woman called police after she noticed two instances of missing money at her residence in the 1400 block of North 68th Street, Sept. 14. She believes that her niece took the money. The first instance involved a missing coin purse with about $40 in it. The niece was in the house at the time it went missing but said that her friend "Ozzy" took it. The next week, the woman noticed that an envelope containing $140 was missing.

6A cellphone valued at $749 was taken from U.S. Cellular, 2525 N. Mayfair Road, between noon Sept. 15 and noon Sept. 18. The display model was taken off the cord without the alarm sounding. The police called the cellphone and someone answered. When the officer asked how the person had gotten the phone, they said they bought it off the street. The person on the phone hung up after police told them it was stolen.

A Wauwatosa man received a call from collections claiming he owed $2,707 on a Verizon account he had not opened at 12:58 p.m. Sept. 18. The bill originated in Georgia.

7An iPod valued at $100 was taken from a locker at Whitman Middle School, 11100 W. Center St., between 8:55 and 9:35 a.m. Sept. 19.

8Two handguns were taken from a car at Pick 'n Save, 1717 N. Mayfair Road, at 9:26 a.m. Sept. 19. The vehicle's window was first pried and then smashed out. The handguns were in a backpack. One handgun was worth $400, the other was worth $1,500. Damage to the car is estimated at $500.

9A car's window was smashed and several items were taken out of it at Juniper 61, 6030 W. North Ave., between 10:45 p.m. Sept. 19 and 12:05 a.m. Sept. 20. A rock was found inside the car. Loss is estimated at $2,468. Damage is estimated at $200.

10A man called police after a woman he picked up at a house party stole his brother-in-law's pickup truck from the 2400 block of North 116th Street between 3 and 4 a.m. Sept. 20. The man was house-sitting at the time and took the woman home for "adult activities" that never happened. The woman went into the shower and after some time the man noticed she was missing, along with his keys, his brother-in-law's keys and his brother-in-law's truck.

11A 21-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for taking $224 worth of children's clothing from Boston Store, 2400 N. Mayfair Road, at 1:20 p.m. Sept. 20.

12About $1,500 was taken from a woman's purse at the Veterans Administration Hospital, 201 N. Mayfair Road, at 11:08 a.m. Sept. 21. She had planned to pay for a medical procedure in cash because her insurance does not cover it but after the operation the money was missing.

13Two Milwaukee boys, ages 12 and 14, were arrested for stealing cellphones from customers at Massage Envy, 2751 N. Mayfair Road, at 12:41 p.m. Sept. 21. The two had a new pair of jeans in their possession and admitted they had stolen them from Macy's at Mayfair. The cellphones, each valued at $300, were recovered and returned to the owners.

14A wallet and its contents were taken from a woman's purse at Mayfair, 2500 N. Mayfair Road, before 3:26 p.m. Sept. 21. Loss is estimated at $195. The woman said the purse had not left her shoulder, and she knew she had brought her wallet with her.

15Sunglasses valued at $238 were taken from Solstice at Mayfair, 2500 N. Mayfair Road, at 3:06 p.m. Sept. 22.

16A vehicle's window was smashed and a backpack was taken from the car outside the Radisson hotel, 2303 N. Mayfair Road, between 8 p.m. Sept. 22 and 6 a.m. Sept. 23. Loss is estimated at $1,380.

17A vehicle's window was smashed and a purse was taken from the car outside Red Lobster, 2801 N. Mayfair Road, at 11:18 p.m. Sept. 22. Loss is estimated at $45.

Police responded to six thefts of items valued $100 or less last week.

ASSAULT

18A 15-year-old Wauwatosa girl was arrested after she hit her mother several times in the back of the head and face in the 1400 block of North 124th Street at 3:15 p.m. Sept. 21. They were in an argument when the mother pulled their car over and slapped the daughter for cursing at her. The daughter then punched the mother several times in the back of the head and a few times in the face.

DRUG POSSESSION

19A 20-year-old West Allis man was arrested for drug possession at Road Days Inn, 11811 W. Bluemound Road, at 11:10 p.m. Sept. 17. He had four grams of marijuana and a pipe on him.

ACCIDENTS

20A 5-year-old boy was taken to Froedtert Hospital after a pickup truck rear-ended the vehicle he was riding in, in the 12300 block of West Capitol Drive at 7:50 p.m. Sept. 6. The pickup truck driver, a 55-year-old man, thought the vehicle he rear-ended was going forward, when it was actually stopped at a light.

21A 36-year-old woman was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital after another vehicle crashed into hers in the 2600 block of Wauwatosa Avenue at 11:45 a.m. Sept. 19. She was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident and was pulling out when she was hit. The 69-year-old man driving the other vehicle said there were vehicles parked along the street, which made it hard to see her. The woman was cited for failing to yield the right of way and not wearing a seatbelt.

22A 41-year-old woman was taken to Froedtert Hospital and her three children - ages 9, 7 and 6 - were taken to the Children's Hospital of Wisconsin after a vehicle driven by a 23-year-old man hit theirs, causing it to hit a third at the intersection of Wauwatosa and North avenues at 5:49 p.m. Sept. 19. The man said that he sped up to go through a light before it turned red and he was going about 40 mph at the time. He said he was in a hurry to get to the bank.

VANDALISM

23A window valued at $400 was smashed at a building in Currie Park, 11001 W. Capitol Drive before 9 a.m. Sept. 17.

24Many unintelligible words and some pictures were written in black marker on the bathroom at Hart Park, 7300 Chestnut St., between 5:30 p.m. Sept. 21 and 7:30 a.m. Sept. 22.

25A "for rent" sign was damaged in the 7200 block of West State Street between 11 a.m. Sept. 22 and 7:10 a.m. Sept. 23. Damage is estimated at $100.

26A rock was thrown through the window of Madison Elementary School, 9925 W. Glendale Ave., before 9:02 a.m. Sept. 23.

OTHER

27A custodian's hand was bitten by a dog at Longfellow Middle School, 7600 W. North Ave., at 10:15 a.m. Sept. 19. She had reached out to allow the dog to sniff her hand. The dog's owner, a 56-year-old West Allis woman, was taking a cellphone call when the incident occurred. The dog is current on all rabies shots and other vaccinations.

A man called police after receiving a suspicious email at 9:03 a.m. Sept. 22. The email purported to have been sent by a company he does business with, and said that the owner had been mugged in the United Kingdom and needed emergency cash. Many clients of the company received similar emails. The email was a scam not authorized by the company.

28A 25-year-old Wauwatosa woman and a 29-year-old Milwaukee man were arrested for disorderly conduct at Buffalo Wild Wings, 2635 N. Mayfair Road, at 6:57 p.m. Sept. 22. The woman had slapped her boyfriend when she found him with another woman. He turned around and choked her while she continued to slap him. Customers separated the two and kept them apart until police arrived.

29A counterfeit $5 bill was passed at Discovery Clothing, 2857 N. Mayfair Road, at 11:31 a.m. Sept. 24. The bill didn't have any watermarks or security strip and was slightly darker than a normal bill.

Police responded to one domestic disturbance call last week.
