Police Report: Nov. 23

THEFT

1A 20-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for retail theft after he took six video game systems valued at $1,020 from Target, 3900 N. 124th St., between Nov. 7 and 17. He worked at the store and said he sold or gave away the items.

2An employee's credit card was taken at Puhl's True Value, 1525 N. 68th St., about 3 p.m. Nov. 7. Dozens of fraudulent charges totaling $3,791 were made over the next two days.

3Five electronic tablets valued at $2,500 were taken from a locked room at Milwaukee Career College, 3077 N. Mayfair Road, between 10 a.m. Nov. 8 and 10 a.m. Nov. 15. A door had been pried open.

4A shopper's wallet, valued at $105, was taken from her cart at Pick 'n Save, 6950 W. State St., about 2 p.m. Nov. 8. Credit cards were used to make $3,542 in fraudulent charges at Best Buy in Wauwatosa.

5A 14-year-old Milwaukee girl was arrested for retail theft after she took clothing valued at $100 at 7:06 p.m. Nov. 8. She said she had the money but decided to take an item, then after she got away with it returned and took a couple of other pieces.

6Three snowblowers valued at $200 were taken from the 1900 block of North 118th Street between noon and 6 p.m. Nov. 9. He was rebuilding the machines in the driveway.

7A 27-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for retail theft after she put jeans, valued at $178, into a shopping bag lined with aluminum foil at The Buckle at Mayfair at 1:29 p.m. Nov. 9. She also had clothing and jewelry, valued at $177, which had been taken from Express.

8A man left his wallet on the salad bar at Pick 'n Save, 1717 N. Mayfair Road, and it was gone when he returned. His credit cards were used to make nearly $900 in fraudulent charges at stores and gas stations.

9A 16-year-old Milwaukee girl was arrested for retail theft and disorderly conduct after she put clothing valued at $178 in her purse at Boston Store at 2:50 p.m. Nov. 11. When security guards stopped her, she screamed hysterically and tried to push past. A guard wrapped his arms around her and lowered her to the ground so she would stop resisting but she flailed her arms and kicked her legs. Then she spit in the face of another employee. The same girl was arrested again, this time for trespassing because she had been banned from the mall and possession of stolen property, at Boston Store at 2:55 p.m. Nov. 13. She was carrying a tinfoil-lined bag, and two packages of hair weave valued at $52 with the security sensors on them were found in her vehicle.

10A man took video games valued at $188 from Kmart, 3201 N. Mayfair Road, at 6:37 p.m. Nov. 11. He removed the games from their cases in a restroom then ran from the store.

11A shopper's wallet was taken at Office Max, 12140 W. Burleigh St., between 3:39 and 4 p.m. Nov. 13. She got an alert from her credit card company saying four fraudulent charges totaling $997 were made at a Walmart in Milwaukee. When she activated her new card she found additional charges totaling $205 were already made at the same Walmart.

12A purse was taken from Alternatives in Psychological Consultation, 10045 W. Lisbon Ave., between 8:45 and 11 a.m. Nov. 14. Credit cards were used to make $1,018 in fraudulent charges from three stores.

13A man put router bits valued at $156 in his jacket and ran out of The Home Depot, 4100 N. 124th St., at 10:07 a.m. Nov. 14.

14A 31-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested after he took clothing and cologne, valued at $1,200, from Boston Store at Mayfair, 2500 N. Mayfair Road, at 1:43 p.m. Nov. 14. The man bit two security officers and tried to jump from the third floor of a Mayfair parking structure before he was apprehended.

15Pop-up tents, aluminum poles and butane burner, valued at $1,060, were taken from an unlocked work truck at Wisconsin Soup Co., 6228 W. State St., between 2 p.m. Nov. 14 and 9 a.m. Nov. 16.

16Four rubber energy bracelets, valued at $120, were taken from the Energy Excel kiosk at Mayfair at 7:45 p.m. Nov. 14. A kiosk employee briefly left the kiosk station and noticed the missing items upon his return.

17An MP3 player, valued at $299, was taken from an unlocked locker at Wisconsin Lutheran College, 8800 W. Bluemound Road, between 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Nov. 15.

18A 16-year-old Milwaukee girls was arrested for retail theft after she put boots valued at $100 in a shopping bag and walked out of Boston Store at 4:48 p.m. Nov. 15.

19Sunglasses, valued at $220, was taken from Solstice in Mayfair at 4:55 p.m. Nov. 15. A woman was seen trying on the glasses. The clerk then walked into the back room and saw the item missing upon her return.

A Tosa resident's credit card was used to make a fraudulent online purchase totaling $564. The owner was alerted when the company called to verify a change of address to the supposed New York shipment destination.

20A laptop computer, valued at $1,500, was taken from a vehicle parked at the Technology Center, 10400 Innovation Drive, between 9:20 and 10:15 a.m. Nov. 16. A window had been broken.

21A 15-year-old Milwaukee boy was arrested for retail theft and trespassing after he tried to take jeans valued at $855 from Macy's at 7:05 p.m. Nov. 16. Popping sounds were heard as he removed security tags in the fitting room. When a security guard approached, he dropped his backpack full of merchandise and ran. He had been banned from the mall for a prior theft. He was found at Best Buy, where he again ran and started a short foot chase, wearing stolen clothing.

22A snowblower valued at $100 was taken from a yard in the 12100 block of West Dearbourn Avenue between 1 p.m. Nov. 16 and 2:50 p.m. Nov. 17.

A Wauwatosa man's credit card was fraudulently used to purchase $499 of unspecified items from a store in Barcelona, Spain, and $10 of strawberries from an undisclosed location prior to 8:48 a.m. Nov. 18.

23A purse valued at $300 was taken from a van at AMF Bowlero, 11737 W. Burleigh St., between 6 and 8:50 p.m. Nov. 18. A window had been broken and credit cards were used to make fraudulent purchases.

24A silver 2002 Chrysler van valued at $5,000 was taken from St. Jude's Thrift Shop, 734 Glenview Ave., between 9:45 and 10 a.m. Nov. 19.

Wauwatosa Police Department responded to four thefts of items valued at less than $100 in the past week.

DRUG POSSESSION

25A 25-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for marijuana possession after her car was stopped for unpaid parking tickets in the 10700 block of West North Avenue at 9:15 p.m. Nov. 10. A bag containing 0.45 grams of the drug was found in the backseat.

26A 21-year-old Wauwatosa man was arrested for marijuana possession at his home in the 2500 block of North 68th Street about 10:30 p.m. Nov. 16. The mother of a 15-year-old Wauwatosa boy said he had skipped school that day and had a warrant from the juvenile court for his arrest for failing to comply with conditions of his release. He was picked up by the 21-year-old so police tracked his car. The boy was arrested for drug paraphernalia possession for having marijuana pipes, while the man had 1.63 grams of pot at the house. A third boy, 17 from West Allis, was arrested on a warrant for truancy.

27A 28-year-old man Illinois man was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and obtaining a prescription by fraud at Walgreens, 2656 Wauwatosa Ave., at 5:54 p.m. Nov. 20. He dropped off a prescription for a large number of Hydrocodone pills using the drive-thru. The pharmacist was familiar with the prescribing doctor and realized the writing was forged. When he returned to pick up the drugs, money was found strewn around his car and he had amphetamines and other narcotics without a prescription. A blank script from another doctor and two Wisconsin license plates were also in his vehicle.

DRUNKEN DRIVING

28A 23-year-old Trevor woman was arrested for drunken driving, third offense, after being stopped in the 2000 block of North Mayfair Road at 9:15 p.m. Nov. 17. An officer was stopped to help a motorist and the woman nearly struck his squad car as she was veering all over the road. The vehicle was found stopped and the driver said she had run out of gas, but the officer said she actually had a flat tire. She submitted to a blood draw.

ACCIDENTS

29Three women - ages, 34, 53 and 78 - were taken to Froedtert Hospital after the vehicle they were riding in was struck in the 10200 block of West North Avenue at 11:26 a.m. Nov. 9. The driver of the striking vehicle, an 82-year-old woman made a quick turn into traffic, so she was cited for failing to yield right of way.

30A 50-year-old woman was taken to Froedtert Hospital for an arm injury after she failed to stop for a red light and her car struck another vehicle at Blue Mound and Mayfair roads at 11:40 a.m. Nov. 14. She was cited for the violation. The other driver was not injured.

31A 21-year-old woman was taken to St. Joseph Hospital for knee pain after a car struck her vehicle and pushed it onto the sidewalk at 72nd Street and North Avenue at 3:30 p.m. Nov. 17. She was cited for not wearing a seatbelt and for driving with an instructional permit but no licensed driver supervising. The driver of the striking vehicle, a 60-year-old woman said the sun blinded her so she turned into the oncoming car. She was cited for failing to yield right of way and driving an car without insurance.

32A 53-year-old man was taken to Froedtert Hospital for neck and head pain after his Volkswagen Jetta was struck from behind while at a stoplight at Watertown Plank Road and Swan Boulevard at 5:23 p.m. Nov. 18. A 41-year-old woman, who was cited for following too closely, was talking on a cell phone and didn't notice traffic slowing. Her Toyota Corolla struck a Ford Fusion, driven by a 30-year-old woman, and it was pushed into the Jetta.

VANDALISM

33Eggs were thrown at a garage and house in the 2700 block of North Park Drive between 6 and 10 p.m. Nov. 12. A large amount of spoiled milk had been poured on the front door step and packing peanuts strewn across the yard.

34A half-ton slab of granite valued at $1,200 was smashed into pieces at Granite Surfaces International, 4650 N. 124th St., prior to 7:39 a.m. Nov. 14. The rock had been chained to a cart and would have taken several people to lift, employees said.

35The windshield and hood of a truck had $1,100 in damage while parked along the railroad tracks at the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District Ventilation Building,1600 Swan Blvd., between 9 a.m. Nov. 15 and 9 a.m. Nov. 16. The damage may have been caused by rocks thrown.

36A window and door were damaged at a house in the 900 block of North 115th Street between 11:15 a.m. and 4:40 p.m. Nov. 21. The homeowner's purse had been stolen from work earlier that day.

OTHER

37A 49-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for disorderly conduct after an officer saw him expose himself and urinate under the Highway 45 overpass in the 1800 block of Mayfair Road at 6:17 p.m. Nov. 11. He said he had been drinking at a West Allis bar and had a bladder infection.

38A woman paid for $7 drink with a counterfeit $100 bill at Starbucks, 2751 N. Mayfair Road, at 5:42 p.m. Nov. 12. The bill turned out to be $5, but by the time employees realized they had given the woman a gift card for the difference because they didn't have enough change in the register.

39A counterfeit $100 bill was used to purchase a drink that cost less than $5 at Caribou Coffee, 418 N. Mayfair Road, at 8:40 a.m. Nov. 15. An employee became suspicious after the purchase and decided to call police to confirm the money's authenticity.

40A 23-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for disorderly conduct after he entered the window of his former girlfriend's home in the 4400 block of North 108th Street at 8:15 a.m. on Nov. 16. Police said the man had been seen knocking on windows of other residences in the neighborhood.

41Two Wauwatosa brothers were cited for habitual truancy because of poor attendance at Wauwatosa East High School, 7500 Milwaukee Ave., at 11:59 a.m. Nov. 16. One boy hadn't shown up for school all semester and the other stopped attending a few weeks earlier. Their mother said the boys were tired and didn't want to go to school. When she tried to make them they would physically resist. An officer told them to change out of their pajamas and took them to school where they met with guidance counselors.

42A 17-year-old Wauwatosa boy was arrested for drug paraphernalia possession because he brought a pen that he converted into a marijuana pipe to Wauwatosa East and showed it off to fellow students at 11:13 a.m. Nov. 17.

43A 17-year-old Wauwatosa boy was cited for habitual truancy at Wauwatosa East at 2:06 p.m. Nov. 17, after he missed part or all of 12 of the last 18 days of school. He was wandering the hallways and said he had lost motivation to go to class following a fire drill. The next day, he refused to go to class and sat with his feet propped up on desks in the hallway while he stared at a wall. He threatened officers and used vulgar language so he was told to leave for the rest of the day at 1:14 p.m. He walked into the parking lot, turned around and held up a cigarette while he laughed. He was cited for disorderly conduct and tobacco possession. He made gang references and threatened officers, then violently kicked the windows of the squad car. He was transferred to a prisoner van where he pounded on the walls. In the past year, he was arrested five other times for incidents such as alcohol and tobacco possession to swinging a bat above his head in a the street and vandalizing his mother's home because she wouldn't give him money.

Wauwatosa Police Department responded to five incidents of domestic violence in the past week.
