Wauwatosa Police Report: July 23

BURGLARY

1An open garage was entered and a $15 battery was taken from it between 3 p.m. July 7 and 7 p.m. July 16. Total loss is $50.

2A home in the 5900 block of West Wells Street was entered via an open window and had $242 of items taken from it between 1:30 and 7 a.m. July 12. The owners left the windows open to let in the breeze and found the screen lying on the ground outside. A cellphone, digital camera and cash were taken.

3Electronics and a social security card were taken from a home in the 6200 block of Washington Boulevard between noon and 10 p.m. July 14. The burglars tried breaking into a milk shoot and failed but found the hidden key to the home and unlocked the back door. They stole a laptop computer, gaming system and a social security card, resulting in a total loss of $700.

4A home in the 500 block of North 60th Street was entered but nothing was taken from it between 1 p.m. July 14 and 9:45 a.m. July 15. The burglars cut a screen to get in, resulting in damages worth $50.

5A laptop computer and several fuel cards were stolen from Clean Power, 125 N. 120th St., between 4:30 p.m. July 14 and 5:45 a.m. July 15. The manager suspects an employee of the burglary, as six were fired in the past month. The owner did not know the value of the stolen items at the time of the report.

6Several bicycles and multiple tools were taken from an unlocked garage in the 2400 block of North 64th Street between 5 p.m. July 14 and 7:10 a.m. July 15. A total of eight bicycles were taken, resulting in a loss of $1,500.

7Multiple items were taken from a home in the 2200 block of North 62nd Street between 12:30 and 6 p.m. July 16. Hired workers are suspected to have taken the items. Fishing equipment, change, a television and $1,300 in cash were among the items taken, resulting in a total loss of $3,580.

8A gold watch and gold tooth were taken from a home in the 100 block of North 85th Street at 10 p.m. July 16. The resident was in the home at the time and heard footsteps on the roof. He became suspicious and yelled 'Hello? Hello?' He noticed his balcony door was open and a man was running through his yard. Police believe he stood on a handrail on the sidewalk in order to get to the roof. Total loss is estimated at $150.

THEFT

9An employee took $200 from the register at McDonald's, 3800 N. 124th St., at 1:47 p.m. July 15. The employee admitted to the theft and paid $180 of the money back, pledging to pay back the other $20. She was fired; McDonald's is not pressing charges.

10A man's wallet was taken from his car while he was pumping gas at Currie Park Auto, 10745 W. Capitol Ave., between 2 and 2:30 p.m. July 12. The man believes the thieves took his wallet by reaching through his vehicle's open window. Total loss is estimated at $11.

11Two boys were arrested for drug possession and taking items from Pick 'n Save, 6950 W. State St., at 2:37 p.m. July 12. The two took energy drinks, vodka and ice cream and one had a bottle modified into a marijuana pipe on him. Total loss is estimated at $19.

12Two bicycles were taken from a garage in the 4700 block of North Parkside Drive at 3:32 p.m. July 13. The homeowner was chasing the two thieves, described as young men, until she lost sight of them at North 108th Street and West Villard Avenue. They got away by riding the bicycles, worth $220, down a bike path.

13A man was arrested for taking a $275 pair of sunglasses from Solstice at Mayfair, 2500 N. Mayfair Road, at 12:45 p.m. July 14. The man tried hiding the sunglasses in Five Guys at Mayfair after he noticed he was being followed, but they were found and he was arrested.

14A woman was arrested for taking $506 in clothing from the Boston Store, 2400 N. Mayfair Road, at 5:40 p.m. July 14. She had her baby with her in a stroller while she took 33 articles of clothing. She took the items by putting them in a bag and hiding the bag in her stroller. She said she was homeless, living with friends on and off and took the clothes for her child.

15A wallet was taken while it sat in an unattended purse at BelAir Cantina, 6817 W. North Ave., between 9 and 11:52 p.m. July 14. The credit cards were used at two gas stations, but there was no value given as to the fraudulent purchases. Total loss of items is valued at $175.

16A bicycle was taken from Hart Park, 7300 Chestnut St., at 10:15 p.m. July 15. Total loss is estimated at $150.

DRUNKEN DRIVING

17A man was arrested for drunken driving, first offense, after he was found swerving and speeding in the 6300 block of West North Avenue at 1:47 a.m. July 12. The driver said he was just being stupid and showing off for the girls that were in the car with him. His blood alcohol content was 0.16.

18A woman was pulled over for drunken driving, second offense, after she passed a vehicle using her high beam headlights at West North Avenue and North 84th Street at 2:11 a.m. July 17. When pulled over, she couldn't figure out how to turn off her high beams and an officer had to show her how. Her BAC was 0.09.

VANDALISM

19A vehicle had 30 to 40 feminine products stuck on it while in the 11300 block of Underwood Court between 9:30 a.m. July 12 and 7:30 a.m. July 13. A sign on the driveway said 'sorry to hear that you were spotting last night.' The victims believe it was a prank. Total loss is estimated between $300 and $1,000.

20A vehicle's window was shattered in the 4100 block of North 93rd Street at 12:20 a.m. July 16. The vehicle was rifled through but nothing was taken from it. Total loss is estimated at $50.

OTHER

21Two males and one female were arrested for underage drinking at a party held at a home in the 1600 block of North 120th Street at 11:42 p.m. July 12. One of the males hosting the party admitted to drinking; his BAC was 0.08. The male hosted the party while his parents were out of town and over 31 people were turned over to sober drivers.
