Wauwatosa Police Report: March 5

BURGLARY

1A door was pried open and a small amount of cash was taken from Enterprise Glass Service, 1053 N. 115th Street, between 6 p.m. Feb. 27 and 8:30 a.m. Feb. 28.

THEFT

A 58-year-old Wauwatosa man reported he was the victim of identity theft Feb. 25. He suspects his daughter used his social security number to open an ATT account in his name Feb. 2.

2Two cartons of cigarettes and a lighter worth $144 were stolen from Speedway, 6804 W. North Ave., at 7:30 a.m. Feb. 24. The man took the items after his credit card was declined.

3A vehicle's window was smashed and two laptop computers, an iPad and other items were taken from it at Dave and Buster's, 2201 N. Mayfair Road, between 5:35 and 8 p.m. Feb. 25. Total loss including damage to the car is estimated at $7,020.

4A wallet was stolen from a 41-year-old Milwaukee woman while at Maggianos in Mayfair, 2500 N. Mayfair Road, between 7:30 and 8:35 p.m. Feb. 25. Her wallet and cards were taken, resulting in an initial loss of $1,075. Her cards were then used at various stores in the mall, amounting to $3,900 in fraudulent charges.

5A GPS valued at $100 was stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 1200 block of North 120th Street between 8:30 p.m. Feb. 25 and 6:30 a.m. Feb. 26.

6A wallet, credit cards and over $50 in cash were taken from an unlocked car in the 1200 block of North 120th Street between 11:30 p.m. Feb. 25 and 6 a.m. Feb. 26.

7Two pairs of $150 sunglasses were taken from Sunglass Hut at Mayfair, 2500 N. Mayfair Road, at 11:31 a.m. Feb. 26. A 19-year-old Milwaukee man was searched but no glasses were found on him.

8Two 18-year-old Milwaukee men were arrested for taking two pair of sunglasses worth $444 from Solstice at Mayfair, 2500 N. Mayfair Road, at 3:19 p.m. Feb. 26. One of the men had four open cases including theft, bail jumping and resisting an officer. One of the men had 1 gram of marijuana on him.

9A 29-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for taking $204 worth of clothing, headphones and a chocolate bar from the Boston Store, 2400 N. Mayfair Road, at 3:30 p.m. Feb. 26. She said she took the clothes to wear to a job interview.

10A 43-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested after taking $661 worth of clothing and other items from Target, 3900 N. 124th St., at 2:52 p.m. Feb. 28. A total of 47 items were taken and the woman said she was going to sell them to pay for an abortion.

11A 15-year-old Wauwatosa woman and a 25-year-old Milwaukee man were arrested for taking a $118 shirt from Dry Goods at Mayfair, 2500 N. Mayfair mall, at 3:26 p.m. Feb. 28. The man was arrested twice for retail thefts in 2012 and has three outstanding warrants for retail theft.

12Two iPad covers worth $140 were taken from Brookstone at Mayfair, 2500 N. Mayfair Road, at 4:56 p.m. Feb. 28. Police are reviewing video footage.

13Three vehicles had their windows broken in the 7700 block of Harwood Avenue between 10:35 a.m. and 12:25 p.m. March 1. A backpack and documents were stolen from the vehicles.

14Multiple bags and bottles of laundry detergent worth $117 were taken from Walgreens, 2275 N. Mayfair Road, at 1:17 a.m. March 2. As the man was told he needed to pay for the items before leaving, he told the cashier "Nah, I'm not going to pay for this stuff" and walked out of the store.

Police responded to two thefts of items valued at less than $100 this week.

DRUG POSSESSION

15A 20-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for marijuana possession after making a rolling stop in the 4700 block of North 100 Street. Police found a .28 gram blunt in the car.

DRUNKEN DRIVING

16A 32-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for drunken driving, first offense, after weaving through lanes in the 10200 block of Burleigh Street at 1:51 a.m. Feb. 24. His blood alcohol content was 0.17.

17A 45-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for drunken driving, first offense, after she was caught speeding in the 9800 block of West Capitol Drive at 10:28 a.m. Feb. 28. She said she didn't drink that day, but was at a party until 1:30 a.m. the night before. Her BAC was 0.17.

18A 51-year-old Wauwatosa man was arrested for drunken driving, fourth offense, after police got a call about an intoxicated man in the area of North 68th and West State Streets at 6:47 p.m. Feb. 28. Police found the man lying on the stoop outside his apartment and arrested him. Blood sample results are pending.

19A 37-year-old Wauwatosa woman was arrested for drunken driving, first offense, after she was pulled over in the 6900 block of West North Avenue with no headlights on at 11:20 p.m. Feb. 28. Her BAC was 0.17.

ACCIDENTS

20A 41-year-old New Berlin man was taken to West Allis Memorial Hospital after his car was hit by another car in the 12100 block of West Bluemound Road at 4:05 p.m. Feb. 26. The man was hit after he drove through a red light.

VANDALISM

21Residents in the 4300 block of Glenway Street reported their home had been vandalized three times since January. Their mailbox was unscrewed and their outside spigot had been turned on, causing flooding in the driveway. They called police at 12:30 p.m. March 3 when they saw the hose on again.

OTHER

A Wauwatosa woman called police at 2:49 p.m. Feb. 28 after she received a phone bill for an account fraudulently opened in her name from January 2012. She believes someone stole her social security number from the mail.

A 56-year-old Wauwatosa man called police after he got a letter from the IRS stating someone had stolen his identity at noon Feb. 6. No money was taken from any of his bank accounts and he wanted to file a police report so he could fill out his taxes.

22A 47-year-old Wauwatosa man found a baggie of marijuana on the street in the 11400 block of West Meinecke Avenue at 9:43 a.m. Feb. 25.

23A counterfeit $50 bill was passed at Walgreen's, 6600 W. State Street, between 3:36 and 8:12 p.m. Feb. 25. The bill had a Lincoln watermark, and was determined to actually be a $5 bill.

24An unlocked car was rummaged through in the 600 block of Elm Spring Avenue between 6 p.m. Feb. 25 and 6 a.m. Feb. 26. A backpack was found but nothing was taken.

25Three unlocked cars in the 1600 block of Church Street were rummaged through between 9 p.m. Feb. 25 and 7 a.m. Feb. 26. Although the cars all had valuables including cellphones and digital cameras in them, nothing was taken.

26A 53-year-old Milwaukee woman was bit on the arm by a black lab while cleaning a home in the 2400 block of North 66th Street at 12:55 p.m. Feb. 27.

27A man driving a charcoal colored vehicle led police on a 3.6 mile chase that police ended at the intersection of North and Wauwatosa Avenues at 12:42 a.m. March 1. The chase started when police caught the man doing 65 in a 40 mph zone. Speeds hit up to 100 mph, causing the police to stop chasing the man.

28A bag containing .43 grams of marijuana was found at Mayfair mall, 2500 N. Mayfair Road, at 8:38 a.m. March 2.

29A 23-year-old Wauwatosa man was arrested after he dragged his mother outside her home in the 4600 block of North 101st Street, stole her purse and ran away at 8:27 p.m. March 3. His mother said he hit her multiple times in the past two weeks. He fled officers but was tasered and arrested.

30A Wauwatosa woman called police after her 12-year-old daughter told her she had been sexually assaulted by a family friend 20 times beginning in the summer of 2011.

Police responded to one domestic disturbance incident this week.
