Tosa's Schudrowitz earns Academic All-American

St. Norbert College junior Emily Schudrowitz has been named to the Capitol One Academic All-America track and field/cross country second team, presented by the College Sports Information Directors of America. It is her first Academic All-America honor.

Schudrowitz, a Wauwatosa native and a graduate of Wauwatosa East High School, holds a 3.91 grade point average, majoring in international business and Spanish. Schudrowitz finished third at the NCAA Division III outdoor 800-meter run, her best-ever national outdoor finish. She also won the 2010 Division III indoor 800-meter national championship. Schudrowitz has won 15 Midwest Conference championships and owns eight St. Norbert and four Midwest Conference records.

She also earned All-District honors to qualify for the All-American honors.

To be eligible for national or regional selection, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve and maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at her current institution and be nominated by her sports information director. The Academic All-America team is selected after All-District teams are picked from eight geographic regions nationally. District V's College Division encompasses Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana and Minnesota schools belonging to NCAA Division II or III or National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics affiliations.

Tosa kickers to play in Olympic Development Program

Three Wauwatosa-area high school players have been selected to play in the state soccer Olympic Development Program.

Katelyn Hronek, a sophomore at Wauwatosa West, and Andrea Hughes and Sophie Bice, both sophomores at Divine Savior Holy Angels, are among the 18 girls selected for Wisconsin's girls squad.

The team will compete against squads from other Midwestern states July 9 through 11 at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb.

All three girls play for Elm Grove Soccer Club's U16 team, coached by former Marquette University High School coach Bob Spielmann.

Former Brewers setJuly baseball camp

The 10th annual Menomonee Falls Jim Gantner/Don August Baseball Camp is set for 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. July 18 through 21 at the Menomonee Falls Little League Complex.

Ages 8 through 12 will meet on the lower fields and ages 13 and older will be on the upper fields. Call (262) 257-0192 for questions and registration.

Golfers shine inSpecial Olympics event

Several golfers came away with trophies at the Bob Hansen Special Olympics Alternate Stroke tournament June 25 at Greenfield Park. The event was made possible by the PGA and Special Olympics.

Winners were Mark Olson and Mike Behr (Division 1), Steve and Rich Zimmer (D2), Brian Rathke and Keith Lindberg (D3) and Eric and Jim Stein (D4).

Second-place finishers were Paul and Chris Hansen, Bobby and Brett Waldorf, Kira Tanck and Mark Roat, and Nate and Jim Zopf.
