Wauwatosa West girls track and field coach Jack LoPresti was so excited about his team's Woodland Conference Outdoor Championship, he didn't know what to talk about first.

The Trojans, who also won the indoor championship but finished second to New Berlin West at the conference relays, captured the final leg of the Triple Crown on May 20, defeating New Berlin West (132-109.5) at Whitnall.

"I could go on and on and on," he said. "So many great performances last night."

The Trojans had six individual champions and three relay champions.

Mercy Ndon won an individual event and was a member of two relay winners. Ndon won the 100-meter dash in 12.52 seconds and was on the winning 4x100 relay (50.71) with Sharia Brown, Tessa Mallegni and Azya McLin and the 4x200 relay (1 minute, 46.79 seconds) behind Brianna Horton, Brown and Cheri'A Adams.

McLin — besides being on the 4x100 relay — won the 200 dash in 25.98 seconds.

"She had a nice meet," LoPresti said.

Elise Ditscheit was the other individual winner, winning the 400 dash (1:00.54), and she anchored the winning 4x400 relay (4:18.26) with Adams, Mallegni and Anna Roghan. She also scored in the 200 run, finishing fourth (26.86).

"Elise not only won the 400 and placed in the 200, but she ran an awesome final leg in the 4x400 to bring us from back from third to winning it."

Besides being on the winning 4x400 relay, Roghan also finished third in the 300 hurdles (52.73) and fifth in the 800 (2:31.30), and LoPresti gushed over her performance with a busy lineup.

"Anna Roghan is a straight-up competitor," he said. "She runs the 300 lows, grabs third, then comes back and grabs fifth in the 800. All the while, she was competing in the pole vault. That is a tough triple.

"Then a few minutes later, she runs a 400 in the winning 4x400 relay. You gotta have athletes like Anna compete like that to win conference meets. Anna was huge for us last night."

Besides being on two winning relays, Adams also took second in the triple jump with a leap of 35 feet 4½ inches and was third in the 200 (26.77).

"Cheri'A Adams had a great meet," LoPresti said. "What a freshman. Second in the triple jump, excellent 200 dash and a member of the winning 4x400 relay."

Alexis Hardy was also second in the discus (100-1½) and fourth in the shot put (32-11). Beth Garncarz finished third in the shot put (33-5).

"We had awesome performances from the usual suspects," LoPresti said, praising the work of Hardy and Garncarz.

The Trojans also were impressive in gathering points in the hurdles behind Roghan's third in the 300.

Brianna Horton was fourth in the 100 hurdles (18.22) and sixth in the 300 hurdles (54.25); Demyrah Thomas took fifth in the 100 hurdles (18.23) and eighth in the 300 hurdles (54.47); and Marena Lersten was seventh in 100 hurdles (18.65).

"I can't say enough about how the hurdle crew got after it," LoPresti said. "Anna Roghan, plus Brianna and Demyrah placing in the 300 lows, was awesome.

"We had three girls in the final of the high hurdles — Marena Lersten, Brianna Horton and Demyrah Thomas — and they went six, seven and eight."

Sarah McOlash in the pole vault (8-0) and Mallegni in the long jump (5-3) and triple jump (32-9¼) finished sixth.

"Senior Sarah McOlash placing the pole vault was great too," LoPresti said. "And Tessa Mallegni's PRs and places in the long jump, places well in the triple jump and is a member of the 4x100 winning relay and the 4x400 winning relay — awesome stuff."
