YOUTH BASEBALL

National Division

 

Pirates 13, Mets 3 - In the opening game of the baseball season, Allen Witkowski, Drew Reilly and Joe Kopriva came out swinging with singles that they later parlayed into the team's three runs through stealth base stealing.

Cubs 7, Mets 6 - Strong base stealing by Nate Wedel, Charlie Elliott, Joe Zander and Quinn Beaupre helped in scoring four of the team's six runs. Quinn Patton remained on the team's injured reserve list.

Astros 13, Mets 9 - Quinn Beaupre caught a spectacular fly ball for a second out in the first inning. Charlie Elliott was safe on a bunt in the second inning loading the bases. Jonathan Weithaus then smacked a line drive and landed on first, driving in three runs. Joe Kopriva caught a line drive while pitching for a third out in the fifth inning. Dolan McGuire, Michael Brunner, Drew Reilly and Nate Wedel each scored runs.

World League

Catfish 8, Bison 2 - A big six-run inning in the bottom of the fourth broke open a tight pitchers' duel. A great grab by Aaron Henry in left complemented timely RBIs by Tyler Donlon, Parker Esswein and Kyle Wolf to preserve stellar pitching by Evan Donlon and Rory Pulz, who struck out the side in the second ensuring the Catfish their first win of the season.
