Wauwatosa East's sensational freshman Celia Ripple had an excellent performance in one of her two events at Saturday's WIAA Division 1 Girls Swimming & Diving Championships at the University of Wisconsin's Natatorium.

Ripple finished fourth in the 100-yard breast stroke with a time of 1 minute, 4.69 seconds. Her performance scored 15 points for the Red Raiders, which placed 29th out of 41 teams who scored.

Ripple didn't do as well in the 200 individual medley, finishing 24th in a time of 2:14.77.

"She swam very well," Tosa East coach Russ Weigl said. "She had an excellent breast stroke. All of her hard work throughout the season paid off.

"She is a tremendous athlete, very driven to succeed. I am very proud of her."

Waukesha South/Mukwonago beat out Arrowhead in a close race for the state championship, 279 to 273.
