Wauwatosa East will open the post-season at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Milwaukee Washington in the WIAA quarterfinal regional game.
The Red Raiders are 10th-seeded and the Purgolders are seventh-seeded.
Although Washington has a losing record overall (8-10), they finished third in the Milwaukee City Conference Blue Division (6-5) behind Milwaukee Riverside (11-0) and Milwaukee King (9-1).
They are led by 5-foot-7-inch senior wing Lamaris Marrero, who is averaging 14.4 points per game, and Shanell Dedrick, a 5-5 senior guard, who is second on the team with a 13.9 average.
Sherri Calhoun (8.3) and Arianne Smith-King (7.9) are also scoring threats for Washington.
Junior Katie Salmon leads the Red Raiders in scoring with 17.7 points a game, but there is a big fall off to Alayah Walls, who is scoring 6.7 points per game.
"The seeding process was fair and balanced," Tosa East coach Rob Hamill said. "We came out with what we expected and wanted. We are familiar with Milwaukee Washington having played them at their place this season (lost 65-55 Dec. 21) so our squad should know what to expect."
Five players average between 3.0 and 3.5 points per game.
The Red Raiders (2-11) close out the Greater Metro Conference season at 7:30 p.m. Thursday by hosting last-place West Allis Central (0-13).
Tosa East ran into two powerhouses, losing to Brookfield Central (10-3) and Divine Savior Holy Angels (11-2) to fall to 4-17 overall.
The Red Raiders go into the post-season struggling, having lost six of seven games. A victory over West Allis Central would help the momentum going into the post-season.
The Red Raiders defeated the Bulldogs, 44-24, in West Allis on Jan. 18 in the first meeting.
"Up until the DSHA game I felt we were on a very much improved path having played some of our best ball against Brook Central on Feb 8.," Hamill said. "Against DS we let some things happen defensively that we have been working religiously on to avoid so it was a little bit of a step backwards for us.
"However, we have continued to practice with a high level of spirit and I think we are going to be ready for our last regular season game and use it as a springboard into the post season."
