Wauwatosa Swordfish excel at Single Age meet

Published on: 1/29/2013

Competing against seven other teams, the Tosa Swordfish participated in the Winter Single Age Meet hosted by the Lake Country Swim Team at Arrowhead High School on Saturday and despite less than stellar times, came away with many awards.

Each one of the Swordfish swimmers competing placed within the top 16 in at least one of their respective events except for one athlete who was swimming in her very first competition. However, coach Jackie Jecha was quick to point out that the goal for her team is to drop times and not earn awards.

'We are at the peak of our season with the team swimming up to 6,000 yards a night,' Jecha said. 'With the kids working so hard during the week, we expect their times to be slower than their previous best at this time of the year. Over the next couple of weeks, we will begin to taper the practices and we'll see faster times during competition as the season winds down.'
