June 26, 2012

Wildcard Gymnastics in Brookfield captured 50 Gold Medals at the 2012 AAU Gymnastics Age Group Nationals in the Wisconsin Dells this past weekend. Wildcard had the most first place finishes out of all of the Wisconsin teams represented. Teams participating in the championships came from all over the country including California, Florida, Michigan, Georgia, and many others.

Wildcard's youngest competitor, West Fowler, age 3 won both the Free Running and Speed Running competitions for his age group. Free running and speed running are part of Parkour, where athletes move from various pieces of equipment in a fluid and innovative manner. West also competed in the Level 3 Boys competition and earned the national title there as well.

Wildcard's Boys' Team continued to dominate with Owen Mantz snagging the gold on floor, pommels, vault, and in the all-around for Level 4. Teammate Myles Mayer won rings, parallel bars and high bar. Level 5 gymnast, Bryce Willems had an amazing gold medal winning rings routine. Reed Burzynski, won golds on every event and the all-around and managed the highest all-around score out of all of the Level 6 competitors.

Hallie Fowler, sister of West Fowler who holds 9 gold medals, was awarded the National Championship title for her stellar bar routine. Andrea Gross, Wildcard's graduated senior, became AAU National Champion on vault, bars, and in the all-around in her last competition as a Wildcard gymnast.
