S.J. Janis Company to Host Grafton Condominium Open House

Aug. 8, 2012

S.J. Janis Company, a full-service design/build firm in Wauwatosa, Wis., will host a tour of two condominiums in Grafton’s Hunter’s Ridge subdivision from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. on Sat., Aug. 25.

One project, 2159 Seminole St., is first floor condo that the owners wanted to update by removing the builder grade finishes and create a look of clean and timeless quality. Laminate countertops were replaced with Cielo de Oro Granite and a low-maintenance Blanco Silgranit undermount kitchen sink. With the laminate backsplash removed, tile to match the existing tile backsplash was added to make for a clean transition at the new countertop. Within view of the kitchen, the fireplace was customized with a straight-lined mantle, staggered Travertine tile, and a decorative tile mosaic to emulate the kitchen tile. For the owner’s appreciation of wood, French Distressed Maple flooring was selected at the public gathering spaces and new Karastan Naden cut pile carpeting for the guest bedroom for durability and softness. A new stainless steel Frigidaire Professional slide-in gas range, French door refrigerator, and over-the-range microwave completed the updated kitchen.

The second condo at 2208 Seminole St. lent itself to an easy living lifestyle, but it needed personal touches and expressions to make it a home. Warmth was added with the inclusion of engineered Brazilian Teak flooring throughout the entry, kitchen, dinette, and living room, as well as Mannington Adura grouted luxury vinyl tile at the master bathroom and guest bathroom.  Laminate countertops were replaced with a Solarius Granite countertop and a full backsplash of Bliss Cappuccino and Stone mosaics at the kitchen, Juperana Granite in the master bathroom, and Royal Oyster Marble in the guest bathroom. Lighting was added for better illumination and reflection of personal preference, and new appliances in stainless steel provided for a modern flare. Arch-top cabinet doors were replaced with square-top doors with satin nickel hardware, and the fireplace was redesigned with a modified mantle, black trim, and a tile surround to develop continuity from the kitchen into the living room. A warm palette of colors finished the walls throughout the condo, which now has timeless charm and reflects the owner’s personality.

“We place emphasis on creating spaces that are unique to the homeowner,” said Gary Sannes, CR, CGR, company president.  “We believe each project will inspire those that visit the home, providing valuable insight on design and the possibilities available in their own home.”
