The Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) Neuroscience Center Advisory Board has added seven new community and business leaders to its membership. The goal of the board is to support basic and clinical research that will enhance understanding of brain function and improve the ability to treat neurodegenerative and psychiatric disorders, and brain and spinal cord injury.
T. Michael Bolger, J.D., president emeritus of the Medical College, and James M. Holcomb, Breitenbach Institutional Advisory, are co-chairs of the board, which supports fundraising programs and builds community awareness of MCW’s work in the neurosciences.
The new members are:
*Brian D. Eckrose, chief technologist and technical computing systems leader at Cooper Power Systems. Eckrose is also a new member of the MCW Technology Innovation Council.
*Eugene T. Jacobus is the president of Jacobus Energy, Inc. and a member of the Charles D. Jacobus Family Foundation. His father, Charles D. Jacobus, Sr., served as Chairman of the MCW Board of Trustees.
*Mary Hill Taibl (formerly Leahy) is the senior vice president, general counsel, corporate secretary & chief compliance officer of Journal Communications. Prior to this, Taibl served as general counsel Americas for GE Medical Systems, now GE Healthcare.
*Kathleen Poblocki is a former nurse and current community volunteer. She has served on MCW’s Women in Science Committee for nearly five years, and also helps the Archdiocese of Milwaukee and St. Ann’s Intergenerational Center in Milwaukee.
*Sara E. Santiago is the co-owner and President of Roll Mobile, a mobile web development and marketing agency that she founded in 2009. She was recognized as a “Forty under 40” by the Milwaukee Business Journal in 2011.
*Bonnie Timarac is a community volunteer and former business owner who has been the architect of several MCW alumni relations events in Palm Springs, Calif.
*Benjamin Wagner, Esq. is a shareholder at Habush, Habush & Rottier and has been a member of the firm since 2003. Wagner has done student research in neurosciences over the summers at MCW, where his grandfather, Dr. Marvin Wagner, is a professor emeritus of anatomy.
The Neuroscience Research Center was founded in 2010 with the goal of enhancing neuroscience research at MCW Medical College. From clinicians to basic scientists, leading specialists are studying prevention and treatment of more than thirty neurological conditions including Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia, Parkinson’s, Huntington’s and other movement disorders, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gehrig’s Disease), traumatic brain injury, memory loss and addiction.
MCW is also recognized as one of the world’s preeminent centers for brain imaging and brain research.
