Linda Landis, a kindergarten teacher at Lincoln Elementary, is using a $725 Education Foundation of Wauwatosa (EFW) grant as a way to implement technology into her classroom. With the purchase of V-Tech learning laptops, Landis now has another resource for helping students develop language and literacy skills, math skills, and social studies skills.
The access to laptop computers has enabled Landis to give her students hands on experience with the use of a keyboard and a mouse while integrating academics in the classroom. Landis has observed that students are able to locate letters on a keyboard, are more comfortable with and able to manipulate a mouse, are able to work at three different levels which helps differentiate instruction, and are having fun while learning.
