Announcing the Wauwatosa Distinguished Citizen for 2012 . . .

Published on: 3/19/2013

The Wauwatosa Distinguished Citizen Award Council has a long history of honoring the people
who have made significant voluntary contributions to community life in Wauwatosa to make this city such a great place to live. Leaders in our school systems, fire and police services, civic, business, neighborhoods, community services, and historic preservation have been honored over the years for their selfless dedication to making a difference in everyone’s life who lives in and around Wauwatosa.

The Wauwatosa Distinguished Citizen Award Council is pleased to announce Debbie Dubinski as Wauwatosa’s 2012 Distinguished Citizen of the year.

Debbie, a resident of Wauwatosa for over 30 years and mother of four adult children, has volunteered to help, been the Chairperson or manager with the Children’s school events, sports teams, club activities, Scouts, and PTA over the years. Her youngest child, now 26 years old, was born with many health issues; Debbie advocated within the community for the expansion of programs/accommodations offered to students with special needs.

Currently, Debbie’s face is familiar to many in the Tosa East Community during the almost all-year long sports/school events as she shops, cooks, and runs the Concession stand at East. Her volunteer efforts not only help the youth at the high school, they support district needs as well – including funds raised from the District Golf Outing to help support improvements to athletic fields district wide, benefiting all students whether they are in sports or not. Her volunteer efforts extend beyond school to Tosa Kickers, Cub Scouts, Booster Clubs, parent support groups, and the Mike Landisch Kidney Cancer Awareness Fundraiser. Debbie has also been found volunteering, in her apron, at Tosafest and Harfest. Preserving Wauwatosa’s vintage charm, Deb spends her spare time restoring their beautiful historic home on Milwaukee Avenue. Nominating Debbie for this award is The Wauwatosa Woman’s Club along with the following individuals: Lois Weber, Nick Hughes (Principal at Tosa East High School), Jodi Nilsen, Doreen Horak (President of The Wauwatosa Woman’s Club), and Kay Lorenzen. Debbie has been an active and instrumental member of the Wauwatosa Woman’s Club for over six years.

The public is invited to recognize this quiet, energetic, and reliable Distinguished Citizen and thank her for making Wauwatosa a better place to live, work, and raise a family. Please join other community members, family, and friends on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at the Blue Mound Golf and Country Club for the official Distinguished Citizen Award Banquet and Ceremony.
