The Community Engagement Key Function of the Clinical and Translational Science Institute of Southeast Wisconsin will hold a Science Café at the Milwaukee Public Library’s Central location Tuesday, June 18, from 6:00 – 7:30 P.M. The theme of the café is “Breast Cancer Screening and Preventive Health,” and the featured speaker is Alonzo Walker, MD, the Ruth Teske Professor in Surgical Oncology at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW), and a surgical oncologist practicing at Froedtert Hospital.
Dr. Walker, who also is MCW’s Senior Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs and Diversity, will discuss the types of breast cancer, the recommendations for screening, and will offer resources for uninsured or underinsured patients, along with prevention tips.
The event will be held at the Milwaukee Central Library at 814 W. Wisconsin Avenue, in the first floor meeting room. Discussion begins at 6:00 p.m. and continues through 7:30 p.m. The discussions are designed to engage and involve members of the community, and all are free and open to the public.
