Habitat for Humanity Waukesha County
2nd Annual Home Run/Walk Event
March 24, 2014, Waukesha, Wis. - Habitat for Humanity of Waukesha County is pleased to announce its 2nd Annual 5k Home Run/Walk Event at Frame Park in Waukesha on Saturday, May 17th. The event’s major sponsors are Thrivent Financial, First Federal Bank, First Bank Financial Centre and Thomas Press.
The Home Run/Walk Event helps raise funds for Habitat for Humanity Waukesha County’s (HFHWC) home building efforts and helps build awareness of the organization’s mission to help more people achieve their dreams of home ownership in Waukesha County.
“We are excited for this year’s event. We have a lot more going on at Habitat for Humanity of Waukesha – in fact, it’s our 25th Anniversary. We have purchased several lots for future homes, are planning on opening a ReStore and will begin neighborhood revitalization efforts in collaboration with WCTC’s Building Futures students. The money we raise really matters. This event also helps us to build awareness of our organization, which is essential to garnering additional sponsors, donations and volunteers to support our efforts, “said Ericka Smith, Chair of the Marketing & Resource Development Committee at HFHWC.
Registration information for the 2nd Annual Run/walk event is available on the HFHWC website at hfhwaukesha.org. Individual tickets are $25 dollars for adults and $15 for students. Discounted pricing is available for teams and kids are free (including T-shirt). All participants receive a T-shirt, sponsored by Thrivent Financial. Registration must be received by April 25th. In addition, First Federal Bank is sponsoring a Kids Fun Run to precede the regular Run/Walk and First Financial Bank Centre will be providing water throughout the 5k (3.1 mile) course. HFHWC is also grateful for print sponsor, Thomas Press.
All proceeds from this event will directly impact efforts to new build homes, open a ReStore and engage in housing rehabilitation efforts in Waukesha County in 2014. Volunteers are still welcome to join in our event planning efforts. Email waukeshahabitat@gmail.com for more information on volunteer needs. Sponsorship opportunities are still available.
As a non-profit organization, HFHWC depends on the kindness and generosity of the individuals and businesses in Waukesha County. Donations of land, new construction materials, cars, and money are essential to long term plans. This year’s plans to build a ReStore is critical to HFHWC’s growth. A Habitat of Humanity Restore is a re-sale outlet stocked with new and used home building materials, furniture and appliances donated from businesses and individuals within Waukesha County. Our ReStores will serve as a way means for our Affiliates to raise funds for future home builds.
Seeking to put God's love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope. If you would like to volunteer labor or tax-deductible donations of money or land please visit Habitat for Humanity of Waukesha County online at www.hfhwaukesha.org or call 262-309-6025.
