The June 24th premier will raise the curtain on another demanding summer season for the Kids From Wisconsin.
The Premiere Performance is not just to showcase this years troupe, but it is a fundraiser for the "Realize Your Dream" outreach program. Raffles and hors d'oeuvres begin at 5:30 along with a chance to meet the KIDS. The performance will be at 7:30PM. Come early and enjoy!
The 2014 Kids revue is entitled "Can't Hold Us," and it is an especially appropriate theme for the Kids this year, as they expand their reach beyond the performance stage.
"As exciting as it is to begin a new year showcasing our fine young talent, we are also launching a new out-reach program called "Realize Your Dream" to ensure that music and performance remain a vital and valuable resource in our state," said Tina Weiss, Executive Director. The outreach will help the group continue its mission: "to seek out, train and showcase the musically gifted youth of Wisconsin to demonstrate the outstanding artistic talent, personal character and leadership potential present in Wisconsin's greatest natural resource, its young people."
"Realize Your Dream" has already forged a partnership with Milwaukee's First Stage Theater, The Boys and Girls Club in Wisconsin Rapids, younger show choirs and other similar groups across the state. Working with these younger, aspiring performers on what it takes to be a "Kid from Wisconsin". The program will teach techniques, develop relationships, and broaden knowledge through mentoring. The pre-show party will help fund this program in its inaugural year.
The troupe generally performs over 60 shows during the months of June, July and August to nearly 150,000 people over each season.
It is not just their spectacular performances that make KIDS a crowd favorite. The Kids are known for helping charitable organizations and service clubs by holding benefit concerts that raise thousands of dollars.
The popularity of the KIDS continues to grow. Although similar to show choir this may not seem like some-thing for all types of audiences. Popular shows such as Glee have shattered this stereotype. Glee, which focuses on how show choir inspires people of all ages and backgrounds, has helped KIDS become even more popular across Wisconsin.
