The Medical College of Wisconsin’s (MCW) Neuroscience Center will present the second annual Park Dinner for neuroscience and Parkinson’s disease research, Sunday, June 22, at Lake Park Bistro in Milwaukee.
The event begins at 5:00 p.m. with a reception and silent auction under the tent at Lake Park Bistro, with music by Toco Rio. Toco Rio is comprised of Jeffrey R. Binder, M.D., neurologist at MCW, on guitar; and his wife Linda on bandolin. At 6:00 p.m. there will be a short program and recognition of the founding chair of the MCW Neuroscience Center, T. Michael Bolger, J.D., the former president and CEO of MCW. Dinner by James Beard winner Chef Adam Siegel will immediately follow the presentation.
John R. Raymond, Sr., M.D., President and CEO of MCW, will be in attendance, as will Cecilia Hillard, Ph.D., the founding director of the MCW Neuroscience Research Center; Dennis Maiman, M.D., Ph.D., the Sanford J. Larson Professor and chair of Neurosurgery; Joseph Besharse, Ph.D., Marvin Wagner Professor and chair in Cell Biology, Neurobiology and Anatomy; and Shekar Kurpad, M.D., Ph.D., associate professor of neurosurgery and a renowned spinal cord injury researcher and specialist.
Hosts for the evening include Bobbi and Roy Reiman, Bonnie and Ned Timarac, Rachel and Benjamin Wagner, and Jan Lennon. Many members of the Neuroscience Center Advisory Board will also be in attendance: T. Michael Bolger, J.D.; John Bosbous; Brian Eckrose; Andy and Jan Fleckenstein; Eugene T. Jacobus; Dr. Jan Lennon; Warren Pierson; Kathleen Poblocki; Dr. Bryon Riesch; Mary Hill Taibl; Bonnie Timarac; and Benjamin Wagner.
The MCW Neuroscience Center was founded in 2010 with the goal of enhancing neuroscience research at MCW. From clinicians to basic scientists, leading specialists are studying prevention and treatment of more than thirty neurological conditions including Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia, Parkinson’s, Huntington’s and other movement disorders, Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gehrig’s Disease), epilepsy, stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, as well as addiction, depression, and mental health.
MCW is also recognized as one of the world’s preeminent centers for brain imaging and brain research.
