Tom Heinen, Executive Director, Interfaith Conference of Greater Milwaukee speaks on: “Interfaith or in Your Face? The Vital Role of Dialogue and Open-Mindedness in the World”
Sunday 11-22-09, 9:15 a.m. and again at 11:00 a.m.
UU Church West, 13001 W. North Ave, Brookfield
The Interfaith Conference advocates cooperation and respect amongst faith communities. Over 100 years old, Interfaith works for tolerance and the elimination of fanaticism and violence. The need exists throughout our culture, as a variety of social issues intersect: a rise in fundamentalism and hate groups, political polarization, unethical financial practices, lack of civil discourse as well as the decline of newspapers and the spread of half-truths on the Internet. All this makes religious literacy more and more important.
Tom Heinen is the new executive director of the Interfaith Conference of Greater Milwaukee. He also was the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s religion reporter from 1977 to 2008.
