Twenty-nine members of the Wauwatosa East High School Future Business Leaders of America team have qualified to compete in the State Leadership Conference competition in April.
East High School competed in the Regional Leadership Conference at Brookfield East High School on Feb. 5. In addition to the 29 students who qualified for the state conference, the 85-member East High School FBLA team finished third overall in the region.
At the regional competition, students compete in business-related competitions from accounting to marketing and network design. Students compete in groups and individually, depending on the event.
The students from East High School that qualified for the state competition are: Patrick Nellen, Jake Robarge and Zach Petersen, banking and financial systems, second place; Olivia Rebholz, business communications, first place; Livi Crego, Angela Gilman and Emily Jensen, Business Ethics, first place; Quinn Paszkiewicz and Joe Telderer, business financial plan, second place; Maddie Fisher, business law, second place; Chelsea Latham and Angela Parish, business presentation, third place; Morgan Maxwell, computer applications, second place; Jerit George and Jake Petersen, digital video production, second place; Morgan Lucey, health care administration, second place; Kevin Karraker, introduction to technology concepts, third place; Bryce Kratzer, Matt Schmidt and John Strohbusch, management information systems, second place; Chris Due, Erik Islo and Erik Pintar, network design, third place; Brian Hendricks, networking concepts, third place; Alex Conway, Kyle Dobbe, Joey Hayes and Nick Manneback, parliamentary procedure, second place; and Samantha Stone, public speaking II, first place.
Students from West High School also took part in the regional competition. Those students were Andrew Jakubicz, accounting I; Keshada Fisher, computer applications; Dan Engel, personal finance; Beth Pierce, desktop publishing; Katie Crees, desktop publishing; Ericka Gonzalez, health care administration; Stuart Vander Velde, personal finance; and Keith Brown, sports management.
The Wisconsin State Leadership Conference will be held April 11-12 in Appleton. In addition to the competition, students will learn from speakers, attend leadership seminars, tour local businesses and compete in fun events like a Monopoly tournament.
