Le Rêve features fine French dining in Tosa
It seems appropriate that, during the week in which Bastille Day is celebrated, we feature Le Rêve, the charming French restaurant located in the Village of Tosa. Tucked away on Harwood Avenue, Le Rêve has been enticing diners from all over Milwaukee.
Opened in the summer of 2008 by Andrew Schneider and Therese Hittman, Le Rêve offers a French menu prepared by chef de cuisine Andrew Schneider. The name Le Rêve means "The Dream," and that quaint moniker perfectly describesthis adorable eatery.
The first thing you may notice when you walk in is that Le Rêve is far larger than it seems from the street. It's a two-story restaurant with a bar, patisserie and limited seating on the first floor, with additional seating on the second floor.
Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the food at Le Rêve is French but not stuffy. I would be remiss if I did not mention the desserts because they are featured prominently in the dining room and on the menu.
"We are a classic French bistro with a huge selection of patisseries - everything is made in house," says manager Cat Yee Cramton. "We probably have the best desserts in town. People have the most fun looking in the case."
But back to the regular menu: Some of the signature dishes include steak-frites au poivre (hanger steak with thin french fries), $20.95; traditional french onion soup, $6.95; steamed mussels served with frites, $6.95/$11.95; or assiette de fromage (selection of cheeses), $12.95/$16.95. During breakfast, a variety of crepes at $7.95 and omelettes at $7.95 are offered.
Le Rêve has a full bar and, from 4 to 6 p.m. weekdays, they offer a happy hour.
Whether you're looking for a new place for breakfast, a lunch with friends or a nice date-night meal, Le Rêve fits the bill - add a little "oo-la-la" to your week!
