Bullwinkle's in Brookfield: A family-friendly sports restaurant/bar

Nov. 15, 2011

Some restaurants put a TV on a wall and say they're a great place to watch sports while enjoying a meal - but then it gets crowded and loud and you can't see the TVs very well.

That will definitely not happen at the new Bullwinkle's in Brookfield. I have never seen more TVs in one restaurant.

Opened about a month ago in the former Panos' Charhouse, the ownership has not changed, but the décor and the menu certainly has.

I guess you could call Bullwinkle's a sports bar, but the environment is so cozy and family-friendly, that doesn't really do it justice.

"We are an easy and fun place to come to. We cater to everyone from kids to senior citizens," manager Patty Pritchard explained. "We have high-chairs, and we offer seating in quieter areas for those who might not want to watch a game."

The food at Bullwinkle's is American with lots and lots of choices. There's a variety of appetizers for those who want to share food with a group. One popular appetizer is the Bullwinkle Platter, which includes mozzarella sticks, haystack onion rings, fried pickles, jalapeno poppers and tater skins - all for $8.99. The boneless wings ($7.99/$11.99/$15.99) are big sellers and are available in three sizes and with 15 sauces. Burgers ($8.29 to $9.99) and the pizza ($12.59 with two toppings) are two of many entrée offerings. And if you want lighter fare, there are homemade soups and giant salads offered every day.

Of course, if you visit Bullwinkle's for an "adult beverage," you'll find several fun cocktails and about 30 beers on tap, enough to satisfy even the most discerning Wisconsinite.

If you need room for a private or semi-private party, Bullwinkle's offers their atrium area or their banquet facility with a complete menu.
