Is there a rumor you've heard that you would like to track down? Is there something in the city — like playground equipment or a pothole — that needs to be fixed? Rick Romano answers some of the mysteries of life in Wauwatosa and helps solve everyday problems.

What is happening with the closed Tosa Gas?

Issue:A couple of readers asked about the now vacant Wauwatosa Gas service station at 8334 W. North Avenue.

"What is the status of that eyesore of a service station at 84th and North," one reader wrote. "It's been closed for reconstruction for months and on the market for multiple years."

Status: Coldwell Banker, the realtor that most recently placed the property on the market (and apparently just removed its on-site signs), had reported online a "sale pending." Chris Fleege, the listing agent, did not respond to multiple calls to his office. A manager at the real estate office in Milwaukee would only confirm the pending sale. The agency did not answer several requests over the past few months for more information, including when the station would reopen or if there were other plans for the property.

The property's online listing had a figure of $99,900 for the "unbranded full-service filling station" including an underground fuel capacity of 26,000 gallons. The listing said the annual property tax is $3,163.

Alderman Jeffrey Roznowski said he knows the property has been for sale for at least two years.

"I probably get one call a year from people who are interested in the property," Roznowski said. "The ideas range from convenience stores to ice cream stores and medical office space."
