The Hart Park Senior Center, 7300 Chestnut St., has a busy schedule for the month of March. For questions about any of the following programs, call the center at (414) 471-8495.
Monday, March 2: "Fazio Chocolates" from Elm Grove will demonstrate the making of artesian chocolates at 12:45 p.m. One free sample will be available for each registered participant. No charge to attend, but registration is required.
Tuesday, March 3: The morning movie is "National Treasure" at 9 a.m. starring Nicolas Cage.
Monday, March 9: "Jazz and Such" plays from 3:30 to 5. Free to members, $1 for non-members.
Monday, March 9: "The Underground Journey" starts at 1 p.m. The program focusing on how slavery began, who and how it affected people involved and Racine's part in it will be presented by the Racine Heritage Museum's Cheryl Maraccino. The charge is $5 for members, $8 for non-members.
Friday, March 13: Meet and Greet the new Center Staff at 1 p.m. John Neumann-Director and Kate Welch-Program Coordinator. Refreshments will be served. Registration is appreciated
Tuesday, March 17: Birthday party for all members born in March at 1:30. Call to register, and bring a friend.
Wednesday, March 18: Submarine Commander Herbert Kaiser of the USS Cobia will speak at 1 p.m. The charge is $5 for members, $8 for non-members
Thursday, March 19: The Contemporary Books group discusses "David and Goliath: Underdogs, Misfits, and the Art of Battling Giants" by Malcolm Gladwell at 12:30.
Tuesday, March 24: "Smart Phones 101" at 12:45 p.m.. Learn features available on smart phones such as email, applications, mobile banking, navigation and more. Please pre-register.
Wednesday, March 25: Afternoon Movie: "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel" at 12:30 p.m. Repeated on Thursday March 26.
Thursday, March 25: A day trip titled "Mining Wisconsin Treasures," which starts with a tour of Palermo Pizza, followed by lunch (a large slice of pizza and beverage) and dessert at the Milwaukee Public Market. After lunch the day continues with a docent-led tour of the Caterpillar plant's museum and multimedia exhibits and the chance to sit in the driver's seat of an Electric Rope Shovel. The Caterpillar plant was formerly the Bucyrus International plant. The cost is $25 for members and $30 for non-members.
Tuesday, March 31: A program called "How to Speak Alzheimer's" starts at 12:45 p.m.
Tuesday, April 7: The first of a four-part series called "April in Paris with Toulouse-Lautrec" by popular art historian Martha Bolles (The program continues April 14, 28 and May 5). Attend the series to travel back in time and imagine yourself strolling the wide boulevards of Paris, watching ballet or relaxing in the park. The cost is $25 for members, $45 for non-members.
