A dramatic championship night concluded with a hard hit ground ball snared by the pitcher and NWO captain Brian Milewski. A jubilant shout from Milewski, a flip to first and the 2015 Wauwatosa Recreation Department adult softball season had come to an end.
Second-seeded NWO captured the 2015 Wauwatosa Recreation Department's Men City Tournament on Aug. 25 by defeating ninth-seeded Leff's Collentine, 11-9, at Hart Park.
For the second year in a row the championship game went back and forth, with both teams holding a lead late in the game. NWO, sponsored by Maura Strickler with Shorewest Realtors, jumped out to an early lead, but Leff's Collentine battled back to take a 9-8 lead heading into the top of the seventh.
With the game on the line, John Jelacic led off the inning stretching a triple into a daring, inside-the-park homer. With the game now tied, David Schreck homered over the left-field fence to give NWO a one-run lead. One more run was added after the back-to-back home runs to give NWO an 11-9 lead, which it held.
