Kathryn Flynn joins Medical College of Wisconsin Faculty
Kathryn Flynn, PhD, has been appointed assistant professor of medicine (general internal medicine) at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW). She will be conducting research in the MCW Cancer Center as well as the Center for Patient Care & Outcomes Research (PCOR). Dr. Flynn will be focusing her research on the measurement and analysis of patient-reported outcomes (quality of life) and cancer survivorship. She also conducts research on patient decision making, including a new NIH-funded study on how couples navigate the process of seeking treatment for infertility.
Prior to joining the MCW faculty, Dr. Flynn served as assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Duke University School of Medicine and was a member of the Duke Clinical Research Institute and the Duke Cancer Institute.
Dr. Flynn has several years of teaching experience. Her teaching interests include research methodology, survey research, evaluation of patient-reported outcomes, quality of medical care, health services research, and medical sociology.
Dr. Flynn earned her Ph.D. in population health sciences from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. She received her Master’s of Science in Sociology from UW – Madison and her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities.
