Roufus • Matter Combatives Practical Self-Defense Classes Now Offered at Roufusport

Wednesday, November 4, 2015 (Milwaukee, WI USA) Roufusport MMA Academy will begin offering their new Self-Defense program, Roufus • Matter Combatives, starting next Tuesday, November 10th at 7:00 pm at Roufusport's Milwaukee campus located at 321 N. 76th St.

Roufusport is considered one of the nation's premier Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) training facilities and home to former UFC World Lightweight Champion Anthony "Showtime" Pettis among other notable stars of the sport. Roufusport co-founder Duke Roufus is a former 4-Time World Kickboxing Champion and one of MMA's most respected coaches in the game today.

Roufus • Matter Combatives is an on-going, specialized Self-Defense program with group classes offered from 7:00-8:00 pm every Tuesday and Thursday evening.

Designed for the average person looking for a practical approach to Self-Defense, Roufus • Matter Combatives is the answer for real world personal protection. Roufus • Matter Combatives is based on proven mental and physical techniques employed by the military and law enforcement.

Master Instructor John Matter, a decorated U.S. Marine Corps. veteran, has developed a Self-Defense system anyone can easily learn and quickly use to help safely navigate through today’s complex, and often times, dangerous society.

John Matter is a career Marine that has held every position in a Marine sniper platoon with several Counter Terrorism Units, from Automatic Rifleman to Platoon Sergeant. Matter planned and conducted over one hundred uncompromised real world missions in several combat zones including Yemen, Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan.

John is a true, tough as nails military warrior, earning awards for valor, including 3 Purple Hearts for wounds received in combat (shot 9 times total over 3 missions). John has held top secret and PRP security clearances. In addition, a platoon of snipers John led are the subject of the book "Ronin: A Marine Scout-Sniper Platoon in Iraq."

Co-owner of 1K Tactical Group, John trains Police SWAT snipers in the U.S and Israel, is a Marine Corps. Mixed Martial Arts Program Black Belt Instructor, and Black Belt in Kenaticon Karate.

With 29 years of Wrestling and MMA experience, John trained and fought for Marine Corp. Camp Lejeune's MMA Team, actively trains in Jiu-Jitsu and Kickboxing, and is co-owner of Roufusport-Waukesha Co & Lake Country. John was the 2013 Recipient of Wisconsin's HERO Award presented by Gov. Scott Walker, and was the Team Leader and Speaker at Gen. Thomas Jones's annual Semper Fi Odyssey, designed to prepare retiring military vets making the transition to civilian life.

Private Roufus • Matter Combatives Self-Defense group classes are also available in addition to the on-going classes offered at Roufusport's campus. Open 7-days-a-week, Roufusport specializes in Kickboxing, Jiu-Jitsu, Boxing and MMA for adults of all ages. Children as young as 6 are also welcome to train at Roufusport.
